Engine Swap

Post by SimplyPV »

i'm doing my homework and i'm sure all you fellas noticed that i'm runnin a feroza. i threw a rod while on a 1300 mile move in 2 days and it punched a hole through the block so i need a completely new engine. i've sourced one but i'm curious, how long would it take to remove the scrap engine and drop in the new one? yes the engines will be exactly the same. jus curious. also, is this something i can do myself and with help or should i take it into the shop? any ideas on how much labor will run up? thanks

Anyone whos got a brain can easily take something apart and put it back together the same way it was (or nearly  )

If you have exactly the same motor and its goin in the place of an existin gmotor. just simply use tags with labels on it so you know where they go on the new engine so nothing gets mucked up.

Oh yer.. do it while havin a few beers.. apparently i believe that my memory is brigher after a few beers ;)

And have a few mates handy and have them watch the progress. a few more brains - the better.

Oh yer and good luck ;)

A good excuse for a party. Should only take a few hours. Take it to a shop and it will prob be a few days and $$$ depending on the shop. If you do go to a shop and the guys there start talking about a big job, go somewhere else.

If you have a digital camera, take pics of the bits as you dismantle them.

Use those pics to help in the reassembly ;)

Some of the Jap importers only charge $100 over here to do an engine swap, I'd be paying the money if you can get a price like that!
