People may have a different view
But my 2.4 turbo is better than my mates 2.8 in both areas
and his is better than my mates 2.4 surf
Also seems to depend on Engine series as well

reliability wise, the 2.8 just goes on and on and on and on. the 2.4 turbo guys often use a 2.8 head because it is less likely to crack and have bigger valves. putting the turbo from a 2.4 onto a 2.8 makes it go like a bat outa hell, and even N/A it still pulls better than the turbo 2.4 i rekon.

Does that work for the early 2.4 diesel as well

it should do, they are the same block, everything should just bolt up.

the 2.8 head will not work on early roller rocker 2L's. they will however work on the bucket and shim 2.4's

i had a 2L that was strong and reasonlbly quick, then i put a 2.8 with a garret turbo bolted on.. i can beat a surf off the lights, im only running 6-7 pound, surfs run 9 standard i think. but the 2.8 is shit loads better than a 2L. i dont think my pump is wound up either..might be...
