Ct20 turbo

Post by HTH »

Hey ppl, I've got a ct20 turbo sitting in the shed ready to be bolted
onto my 2.8 lux but I noticed when bolting the turbo to the manifold
that it faces down towards the block.

Can the compressor/exhaust housing be spun so it faces
a bit more towards the sky. Cheers ppl

what manifold are you bolting it to?
surf manifold is top mount.

edit: i assume you have a turbo off a 2lt 2.4 diesel motor, not one of the petrol motors that also have the ct20 turbo.

Manifold is off a surf, top mount.
The turbo only needs to spin a inch or 2.
I'll get a pic and post it up tomoz

the can be modified so you can rotate the housings. it will probably bugger up the waste gate actuator bracket and link rod so you might need to modify them too.

I think it might be easier to just modify the manifold then play with the turbo then yeh? Thanks for your advice ppl

All turbos are designed so the comp and exhaust housings can rotate on the central race.

Its probably setup to run to a front mount intercooler rather then straight ova the top of the tappet cover. Just undo the clamping bolts on the comp cover and use a heat gun if it doesnt easily move to loosen the adhesive seal.

You may hav to redrill or slightly modify the wastegate actuator bracket. Alternatively you could fit an intercooler.

There just isn't enough room between the compressor
end and the head, I think I'll probably just mod the manifold.
Thanks again

Yes post a pic, A mate of mine has the ebay CT20 and it bolted up fine to his 3L.

At worst u wud just hav to angle the outlet up on an angle and use a 45 degree silicon joiner to start the plumbing over to the intake manifold.

I depends what the ct20 came off. I got mine off of a 2LT surf and had the same problem. This is using a 2LT-E manifold. You just need to undo the clamp and swivel the turbo to what you think will work for you.

The actuator will have to be modified. Make sure you disconect it before rotating the turbo otherwise you will damage it like I did :bad-words: Now I am running no actuator with the wastegate wired shut
