hi all
have been having this really bad squeeking noise around my feet for a while now and its been driving me mad. i pulled the dash apart and everything to find it and didnt have a win. the strange part was that it stopped if it rained or after i just washed the rig so it got me thinking it was something under the drivers foot well so i pulled the body mount apart and lubed it up with some rubber gresse and it stopped for about 2 weeks
so coming home from work yesterday and it started again so i got under and this is what i see.
yep its a hair line crack in my body
and its also pulling away abit there
so i have never welded a crack in the body before - just clean down to bear metal and pop a bead on????
the squeek must be the body giving way a bit and making the mount loose??

crack on body/body mount fix
for the love of troopys
thats not a bad ideacrunk81us wrote:Yeh just weld as normal..
I have seen a rig with valve springs mounted under the body mounts with longer bolts, washers etc. It supposedly allowed the chassis to flex a little (which they do) whilst allowing the body to stay straight. eliminating stress fractures. common on non IFS hilux
not that i need that but i do have a box of valve springs in the shed lol
