hj60 front diff into rear?

hi i have been told a front diff centre from a hj60 will fit straight into a rear diff housing without any mods,is this true?thanks.

yes they swap straight over they are the same front and rear.
if it aint forced it wont go

Yep, they are the same front and rear, but early models had a square pinion flange and later models had a round one with a different bolt pattern, so just make sure the flange is the same, or you'll have to swap that over too.

thanks so im guessing it makes sence to keep the front diff i have in my spare 60 incase i need to replace ther rear diff one day.would it be good to asume the front diff wouldnt get much work so they would make a good conversion if the rear diff ever wore out?

Yes, but i will near bet my balls on it that your front diff wont be LSD and will be really crap offroad.

Keep it and even if you hav the spare money to drop it into a diff place and get them to tweak it for you or fit a locker in it.

yes but i bet you even if he had a toyota LSD in the rear, it wouldn't work any better than an open diff offroad after the 10 000k mark

Very true. Lockers are worth their weight in gold. I have ARB front and rear, best accessory i have on the vehicle.
