Adding a tacho to a gen 3 motor?

hi guys does any one now how to hook up a tacho to a gen 3 engine in a conversion in is out of a vy commodore. Have checked harness and asked to auto electrics about doing the job and no one knows how to do it.
I have also checked other forums and have had no luck. Please help

You can buy a signal converter from here.

Or you can buy a scan gauge, that just plugs into the OBD2 plug.

Connect it to the tacho output wire from the PCM, set the tacho to 4cyl. most aftermarket tacho's will work fine.`

The wire is connector X2, pin 10 brown wire.

It depends on the Tacho, the issue is that not all tachos trigger at the same voltage, sometimes you need to step the voltage as well as correct the pulse. There is also an option in the LS1 software as to how the tacho output is configured, this needs to be set correctly also.
