Engel Fridge

Post by sharon40 »

Hi I have an old Engle fridge (About 20years) It has been around Australia twice and has never missed a beat.
What I want to Know is can I plug in the 240volt cord and then plug it into the power as you can do with the new ones with out diconecting it from the 12 volt wireing
I realize I wold have to modifiy the plug.

geoff.

If it's one of the old ones with a sliding gate to prevent you plugging in both plugs at the same time, then NO, these models do not have automatic voltage changeover. Even if you remove the gate, you can't plug both leads in at once as they share a common pin in the centre. If you modify the plug sufficiently to get it to take both you will most likely blow up your fridge.
