well i managed to drop my sierra into a decent water hole on the weekend left hand side got real deep, up to the window glass anyways air filter side of the bonnet stayed out just. i turned it off real fast
lucky some friendly locals dragged me out and after opening the doors and draining the water out i hit the key it fired up but was running real crap a bit like moisture in the dizzy cap or a loose plug lead, it was spluttering away unable to get revs over around 3.5k.
i turned it off pulled all the plug leads and the distributor cap and sprayed them with crc dried them out and re fitted fired it up still running crap pulled the plugs they were fairly dirty so cleaned em up back in still running crap
limped home figured sort it in the morning
morning comes turn key have dash lights but no go nothing not even a click check battery its fine put jump pack on just in case still nothing had a quick scan over nothing appears to have come unconnected now i am stumped
i thought after managing to get home it wouldn't be anything too serious now i have no idear
any help would be muchly apreciated
cheers

Silly question, when you cleaned the plug leads did you do it one at a time or pulled them all off, you may have a dry ignition with one (or more) plug leads on wrong, 2 different problems same symptoms, easy mistake to make.

ya started is broke would be my guess, just whack it with a lumpa wood as ya turn the key....
I use to get your problem. so i would find the Allen key bolt on the intake manifold and drain all your rad fluid from there, if it's a stuck choke thing then that may help with the sudden snap of temperature. odd yes, but for some reason it was the only way i could fix mine...

All is fixed I drained the carby and the fuel tank replaced the fuel filter and re fueled the tank with around 15L then put about half a litre of metho in the tank it took about 5km down the road before the new fuel had worked its way through i pulled a U bolt and by the time i got home it was running like a dream
bloody brilliant
thanks for the help everyone

hey fellas, just a bit of info for ppl doing a search on this after their zook wont start... another test you can do to see if your starter has s#it itself is to short out the two terminals of the solenoid. if the starter then works, either theres an open circuit in the wire that runs from there to your ignition or the contact inside the solenoid has got some shit in it and wont close (which happens to me all the time n shortin it out to start it always seems to clear it out n fix the problem).
If it happens all the time, I put it to you that the problem is indeed not fixed at all, just by passed.hodges wrote: (which happens to me all the time n shortin it out to start it always seems to clear it out n fix the problem).
Get off your slack bum and fix it properly
