I rang toyota cos I didn't think that they wouldn't have made one. Between 1998 and 2000 but not in the GXL V8 only. They did sell many I wasn't given a number but from my looking for a second hand one there as rare as.

Nope... no factory turbo, solid axle ever existed from the toyota factory. There are several "built" versions floating around these days with transplanted 1HDT, 1HDFT, 1HDFTE and even the new V8TD.
Cheers,
Dan.

The VX and Saharas where not sold in Australia with a turbo diesel and live axle combo, that's for sure. I don't think the VX was sold here at all in the 105's.

Still for sale. http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic197087.php
The Turbo sticker (on a 105) threw me off at first till i read your engine story. Strange why the previous owner would have changed engine... Maybe he actually thought it was 1hdfte? Why put another 1hz, and not just turbo the existing one?

Very nice... but $$$!!
