16v adjustment
16v adjustment
hi has anyone got any tips on valve adjustment for 16v 91 vitara. lots of talk in manual of special tool. anyone seen one is this just a cranked ring spanner? had a look yesterday, bit confused, dizzy dosnt line up where man says it should, no matter how many times i turn it 180, also bit confused as to what vave is what? going to have another go soon and would appreciate any advice ta
Made a tool to do the job , get a 10mm deep reach socket and weld a bar to it . Try and get a 3/8 dr deep reach so a bigger screwdriver can go down the middle of it .
The issue is the lock nuts are well recesesed and you can't get a spanner on them . With the "tool" you can crack the lock nut and then slid a blade screwdriver down the middle and adjuct the clearance and then hold the spot while you do up the lock nut .
Will take a pic shortly as it will make more sence .
Done it with and without the socket and its way easier with it , but can be done with a ring spanner .
Cheers

Here is a pic of what I made .

When using it the screwdriver does not go all the way through but you get the idea . At a push you may get away with a set of vicegrip's on the end of the deep reach socket .
Have to say now I use it more than the 10mm ring spanner for all jobs not just the valves .
Cheers
