What is the actual cut-off date..

Might come up for a day or so to watch, it is TT after all,
but the whole pre-book for camping and all this added security and police
has turned off alot of people from what I've heard. Which is a big shame
would hate to see TT slip under the radar like most of the 4WD comp
scene in NSW. Might come up in the Corona tho so I don't get any troub
from the boys in blue. The lux is lookin a little haggard these days.

Unfortunately Most of my mates are under the impression (incorrectly)
that Tuff Trucks now caters more to families and pure enthusiasts only
like us. I mean it'll be great for the rowdyness and idiots, but if you
slash numbers by a few K its really gonna feel like a different event.

We actually have to try and convince people to come this year, and with
all the effort involved for a simple camping trip I don't think we'll be
able to.

I just hope Tuff Trucks lives on.
I have been going since 2002 and have seen it grow and grow.
it would be terrible to see it go the other way.

From what you've heard heaps of people are turned off by extra security and police being there. . . . . . . . . .?
GREAT
Those pissed off with the thought of police being there are most likely the morons we don't want there anyway .
I'd love to see a thousand less idiots through the gates, and the rest be all enthusiasts who go there to see the brilliant engineering and driving skills, rather than see who can pass out the quickest. There's nothing wrong with having a few drinks, but some don't seem to know when to stop.
I highly doubt Tuff Truck will die, there is too much interest and involvement in the event for it to die.
I completely agree. I love a few drinks and if there was no alcohol allowed, I honestly wouldn't turn up and I feel many people are the same. But there is a difference between having a great time with a few drinks then getting f$%ked up and causing trouble to other people who have just as much right to be there. I guess the only part that really makes me apprehensive about the weekend is that everyone will be scared to have any fun as they may get kicked out. Just like for anyone who went out in Newy when they put the curfew to 1am lockdown. It just kills the fun for anyone who know how to act responsibly.

As far as the feral hill goes. Who honestly goes camping and expects a good nights sleep? I understand the competitors and families need sleep which is why there should be an option still. Has there been any talk about putting everyone together because I think that would suck.

It seems as thou we are damed if we dont and damed if we do. We have taken on board the complaints about the absolute ferals and acted accordingly to control the behavior a few small groups and now seem to be getting condemed for that.

It is simple go along have few beverages and watch some finely engineered vehicles compete, but DONT go over. Police and security wont give you any hassles if you following the basic conditions of entry which quite claerly set out on the Tuff Truck website

If you have concerns feel free to email me darrenp@tuffevents.com.au

I honestly think the Police presence will make it a better event, there will still be the odd drunken idiot around which anyone can put up wiht, but it will wean out the drunkn fool who throws gas bottles in fires or decides they want your gear more than you do.

I know a lot of people who arnt going cause of the price increase, but that's their choice and means i will get a better viewing spot :D

Bring it on!

Oh, trust me, at first when I saw the price increase back last year I didn't like it at all. I also hadn't yet looked into why the price increase had happened. Once I found out it was due to police presence on site, I thought 'great!'. When kids go around stealing others alcohol and miscellaneous items, it obviously means they are too stingy to fork up the cash anyway. So hopefully they won't be there.

I am very excited about this event. I just hope it turns out as good as the one year I went where we drank till the sun came up and I could walk around as a glowstick man going around and meeting randoms without affecting anyone else's time there.

P.S I need to get some glowsticks soon!!!

What do you do to have fun. Is it illegal? does it disturb others privacy and personal space? If you answer YES your a dick and your the type that management is trying to get rid of. If you answer NO then you have nothing to worry about.

The Plod arent there to annoy people for shits and giggles. They wont bundle you up for being pissed and swearing. Or for being glowstick man and drinking till dawn. The idea is to stop the dangerous behaviour that effects others, like the fawkheads who steal stuff, and throw gas bottles on the fire.

Yes, Ill miss having the memories of drunk naked dudes with half shaved heads being bundled up in carpets and rolled down a hill; of truck tug-o-war in the car park; of generally observing stupid behaviour. But look at the big picture dude. If someone got hurt or killed because of unregulated stupidity, there wont be anymore Tuff Truck.

My point exactly! I am just saying that it sucks that it has come to this. I miss the old days :( Maybe I am also just getting older or kids are getting stupider. I guess I never found it amusing to place people at a risk of danger.

But yes! TTC will do what they need to do in order to make it work and safe, that is great.

'Tis a pity indeed. A couple of smaller scale events on the calender would be good. Ones that dont need to be regulated so much to have an epic time without worrying about being runover in your swag.

pricey i think alot of people would be turned off by the QC's with badges because i guarentee that they are gonna be defecting a whole heap of people going in and out of the event.
my neighbour is one of those QCs but shes alright and she told me not to take my lux because it will most likley be defected if not impounded.
theres nothing majorly done to mine just some shackles and 35s and BL but if they defect me i dont care ill just take it off the road build it bigger and buy something else.
i despise police that do that sort of thing just like at summernats or if they see a group of 4x4s driving theyll pull them all over and go over them with a fine tooth comb.

The first year I got through the fence. Last year security thought I was really stuck. I could get out, just not the way I wanted to. They were going to cut the fence so I had to get out to prove I wasn't stuck. I am working on my butt and thighs for success this year.

Cheers Fellas,

Every bloody comp i have ever been to (and theres been a heap) I have heard this same bullshit about cops.
Guess what guys its generally bullshit!

Why take a stupedly modded 4by to TT anyway. Its not a popularity contest and if it was then i guess Pete would win anyways. Most people have access to a low rider and it would be cheaper to car pool in one.

I for one welcome the changes and the added presents on the po-po.
The smaller numbers will be great also and at the expence of a few more bucks for a ticket. Its a lot cheaper then bloody replacing a 200 ltr icebox that was stolen from us last year. ( we will be looking out for it this year)

Popularity contest
I was taking the hilux cause I usually sleep on the back of my ute and all
my stuff is mounted to the tray for camping? you might call it
habit or even a tradition, but now I do not feel that this is the smartest
option especially with all the focus on lifted 4WDs recently??!!!

And if you call a suspension lift, 35"s and a BL "stupedly" modified then
I think you'll find there are alot of people on here that will disagree with
you as they are running it in their own trucks champ. Its almost
Par for the course these days IMHO.

Look, I was just voicing my concerns with TT10 mate.
I just hope you are right. We'll see how it goes this year.

I think I might go wheeling instead. Put the money and fuel to better
use...
I always want to go wheeling after seeing the rigs at tuffys anyways. :D

I plan on taking my Middy up to Tuff Truck this year, and it's lifted a bit, got a body lift and runs 35's, but engineered and looks neat (well sort of) and tyres aren't hanging 6 inches out of the guards. I don't see it being any problem. I'd be surprised if the Police bother looking twice at it.

I can't understand why people want to turn up to spectate with a rig running 38's or bigger just to sit in the carpark/camping area. Up to them i suppose. If i wanted to drive my 40 anywhere i'd choose to put the 35's on it to make it legal to drive on the road. Pretty sure those who choose to use stupidly big tyres on the road know they're taking a risk.

Anyway those whinging about police being there are either worried about becoming a massive wanker when they get on the cans big time, or drive a shitbox with major rust and/or oil leaks that wouldn't pass a normal rego check anyway  .

It will hopefully be nice to walk around the mud event without the thought of "Shit which direction is the next bottle getting thrown from?"

Maybe what people are thinking is they will get thrown out for is being drunk. If you have a few cans but aren't annoying anyone or being abusive then all good. There is a differance between being a bit pissed and being a bit silly and being pissed and abusing competitors/families/marshalls etc.
But if you clearly can't go to an event without drinking a thousand cans and be a total moron, do something else that weekend and buy the DVD to watch it.
Everyone loves a 40!

True that Tufflux88 and I'll bet 75% of rigs are in the same boat,
mine included...
And just cause you have an engineers cert doesn't mean they cannot
still defect you and send you back to the pits for an inspection??
So either way if they want to, they'll get you.

But seriously...

What has it come to that we can't even discuss Tuff Trucks on Outers
without getting someone's back up?? we're all on the same side...
It shouldn't be this hard. Probably half the reason why all the
tracks in NSW are getting closed down cause we spend half our time
fighting each other instead of working to a common goal.

WE ALL AGREE THAT SOMETHING HAD TO BE DONE..it was CRAZY
I AGREE WITH YOU....SHEESH I NEARLY DIED ONE YEAR FROM
SHRAPNEL COMING THRU MY TENT AND MELTING MY SLEEPING BAG
ONTO ME..Last year I got my shit stolen aswell... We all have had to
deal with it over the years.

Just saying that IT WILL BE A DIFFERENT EVENT THIS YEAR.
And I was just discussing this fact???

Don't worry about it..
I hope it goes well guys.

Guys Remember this...

I am paying the police to do a job, there job is to do what is in our management plan for the event.

THEY ARE NOT THERE TO DEFECT VEHICLES!!!It is not there role to do so. They are there to assist in the security of the event to make it safer for everyone.

If Highway Patrol ( who are independent to local police ) decide to target the area like they did a few years back, then so be it. Nothing I can do about it.

The cops being there should not discourage anybody from coming because there vehicle may not be road worthy. ( if its not, its only a matter of time before you get caught anyway) so please don't use cops at Tuff Truck as an excuse.

This event is really going to be huge, it would be a shame for anyone to miss it...

I think its great that you all are being responsible and thinking about what could happen as far as vehicle checks etc with police, but the ones who most likely will be doing any defect checks will be ones outside of being paid by TT. The yocals are most likely going to be the ones you hate not the police being employed but TT.

Also I will be putting up a new topic for anyone who has questions regarding coming to and camping at Tuff Truck 2010, not for general chit chat. Myself and Darren will answer any questions people may have.

I must admit I do miss the days of Fergo & crew rocking up in the "National Lampoons" Jeep on 38's or 44's just for sh1ts & giggles. I thought stuff like that added to the atmosphere but those guys know how to have a good time & not cause issues. For some reason the younger generation (not all) seem to just have a different attitude.
