Ford Curior Turbo Deisel Any good?

Post by GQboy »

I am looking at a dual cab ute as I needed to sell the shorty and had my mind made up and was looking at the Navara 3.2 as thats about my price range. Well I took one for a drive and was not impressed , it was an absoulute slug but whilst I was in the yard I spied a well priced 1999 dual cab courier Turbo Desiel and took it for a spin. It was more of a pleasure to drive then the Nav but how do they go as a fourby , nothing to hard just touring about and the odd shooting trip.

Any comments would help good or bad.

Look down a few posts and see what everyone else has had to say to THE SAME question. You are not going to get any different answers because YOU asked....

Why should I have expected any less from a forum on the internet , some tool bag with nothing constructive to say in any way shape or form. How about you crawl back into your hole and when I find a need fr s person who spends his whole time on the computer making comments about something he clearly knows nothing about I will come gt you. Till then , keep you comments to youself!

Search found 59 matches for "Courier Bravo", four of which were on the current page.

Some good tech in there, along with known issues. My guess is this is what you are really asking about....

Try entering that into the search function and select the "Other makes" as the search forum.

No wonder I don't come to this board much! It was a good question and deserves an answer!

Mate, the courier/Bravo twins are rippers! I own a 2006 SuperCab 2.5 TD and it is very much underrated. As far as utes go, they are all about the same- just check out the spec's on them and you will see things like wheel travel, clearance, wheelbase and track are all pretty much the same- as is ramp over, approach/departure etc.

You have to compare apples with apples- like you have. The Courier/Bravo year for year competed very well with the others in the class of the same year. Often bettering them in some areas.

I dont know what the '99 model is like but observations of mine:
- Goes well and there are a few cheap tweeks that assist performance
- My economy is around 11.0 city/country loaded/unloaded and I drive it hard
- They are tough though I hear older gearboxes may be a bit weak...
- Pretty comfy and quiet
- The gearing is short on the road and tendes to rev its ring out on the road, but off-road I find the gearing pretty good with quite a deep low range.
- Somewhere on the web there is a magazine test from a few years back comparing all the sual cabs and its clear that the Courier/Bravo of that era were the best equipped offroad. Google it :-)
- If all else fails just drive it better than the guy in the (yawwwwn!) Hilux!
- Front Lokka available now too.

Go on over to 4WD Monthly forum and look up the old posts in the Ford and Mazda sections- heaps of info in there! Beats this forum for this model.

Good luck!
