questions on a hj60
after some major problems with my hj60 diesel i think i may have it working again
on of which i need to change out the alternator now mines the 83 2h diesel
and i replace the alternator with a 86 2h diesel
now after stuffing around i managedto get the wires to a point where alternator is now charging at stand still it sit 12.5-13.5 when the revs are up it sits on 15-16 volts
but i still seem to have 3 light constanly on the dash the battry light and the 2 oil lights of to the left
any ideas at all?

I can have a look at the manual tonight and report back 2 moz... Mine charges at max 14.4 Volts when alternator was rebuilt maybe the 86 alternator is different.
Whats your oil pressure gauge read and do you have enough oil in it?

I'm not quitting drinking, I'm retiring at the top of my game - sporting comeback likely.

Do you have a voltage reg. you can swap over and try.
not that i can see matter of pulling off cover pulling brush hold out and put in new i guess
oil is good
see a while back wheni was driving home the 60 wernt right it burnt out one of the fuseable links on the posative terminal to the glow plugs etc
then the electrics went hey wire so it sat in the shed untill now, iv changed my mind and want my diesel back because the disco is costing me an arm and a leg to run to work and back every day,
in the last 2 week i have set about putting in my own switch to the glow plug press for 5 seconds and she starts no worries,
what i cant work out is why dash lights stay on and she charging too much

thats spot on whats wrong with my 60, i also blew out 2 starter motos because of the power problemrichardsc wrote:could be3 a dodgey regulator rectifier,my fj60 did the same thing, burnt out the fusible links ,even blew a few fuses, the alternator was over charging on revs, battery light stayed on after starting

Ditto. My import HJ61 did the same thing, I bought a second hand alternator without an internal regulator and had an external one fitted. The diodes in my old one had burnt out. This way if anything happens to the regulator, the alternator doesnt have to come out again. Not sure if your HJ60 is regulated the same though.matthewK wrote:thats spot on whats wrong with my 60, i also blew out 2 starter motos because of the power problemrichardsc wrote:could be a dodgey regulator rectifier,my fj60 did the same thing, burnt out the fusible links ,even blew a few fuses, the alternator was over charging on revs, battery light stayed on after starting
I just bought a new alternator 12V, 80A, N [ internally regulator] and the accompanying paper work says Voltage regulator set point is 14.65 volts and hot set point is 14.66 volts. The early H,2H were external regulators and the later 2H was internal, shows on page CH10, 2H 12HT engine workshop manual.
I could not find anywhere I could buy a new internal V/regulator so bought a new alternator with Vacuum pump from A.E.D. Distributors.
