upgrade suspension time

Post by money_killer »

hey guys re doing my bros suspenion in the gq and its all soft and broken

firstly its a gq ute 4" suspesion. its already has upper and lower control arms extendend brake line etc....

looking at getting new bits below..

getting new coils, shocks, rear panhard and draglink (panhard and draglink are superior ones atm but they are broken or bent) and going to get superflex arms and drop boxes this time aswell. and maybe thinking of getting drop out cone kit and retainers etc.

any tips thinking about getting every think from superior but not sure about wat shocks and coils to get this time i wanna try a good flexi coil and shock setup.

when this all happpens im putting the gu front diff into the gq that i have sitting there.

going to call them on monday any way but thought i would post on here aswell.

There are going to be some really decent shocks available soon, if you could hold off on shocks for a little bit it would be worth the wait.

They are build very similar to Fox shocks with a remote resovoir, 15 way adjustable on compression and another 15 on compression and not much dearer then a Tough Dog shock.

I should see some test shocks this week and then another month before more come in.

Just a thought... Went for a wheel during the week and the piston on one off the TD shocks unscrewed itself from the piston shaft and popped completely out of the shock body, in a nut shell she's fuct... I think they must have left the lock tight off that thread...

On another note, what are these new shocks you talk about Shane??? Might be interested... Can do some trials for you if you like???

[QUOTE] In mid to Late January Superior Engineering's Range Of remote Reservoir shocks to suit toyota and nissan's, 2,3,4,5,6 inch lifts will be released!
30 stage adjustable externally on rebound as well as 30 stage adjustable externally on the compression.
Fully rebuildable as well !
They come in either piggy-back or remote canister.
The are made to suit our specs and can be made to any size we require.
Price will not be much more expensive than the tough dog 45mm so that make them a hell of a lot better option than any other shock on the market.
Full details will be posted on our website in early to mid january and they will be available for sale by late january.
At this stage we are not giving away much more detail until there launch.
If you are looking at purchasing shocks within a month or so it may pay wait.[ QUOTE]

G'Day ,

are those new shocks you talking about shane , the one superior eng. getting in , in the next month or so . Cause they sound pretty good.

yes, they are the ones. We know what lengths we are getting now and there are enough lengths to keep just about anybody happy.

Why don't you get Shane to do the whole shebang for you? He sells superior stuff, and at least you know you'd be getting a completely matched and tested kit......

Just a thought.

Yeah me too. Shocks have really been a pain in the backside for the bigger trucks.

No more info just yet.

Ps.... If your going to get new coils, definatly take a look at the Flexi Coils from Suspension Stuff! Love em! Rate em! Sagging nicely settled at a 4'' lift like predicted, smooth ride (providing your shocks are working  )((see above))

Also for the front, check out the "X-Link".

my thoughts.....

TJM XGS GOLD EDITION. Ive done 2 years testing with these before they hit the shelf. In events all around Aus. They never let me down.
I personaly feel that adjustable shocks have one more thing that can go wrong with them, so I avoid them.

yeah yeah I know but now I have had more to do with them I agree with him. However as one MAD Engineer said it is far more justifiable to have them cheaper (Price coming soon but I think it will be under $350 a shock and could be as low as $300) Being adjustable on compression and rebound independantly is just a bonus( as long as we don't have any longevity issues)

They're made to be a bolt in solution for the Patrols.

The sets i've sold are ~10" Travel and 610mm Ext in the front, Rears are 12" travel and ~790mm ext. I've got a set here just winking at me to put in my car...well the rears any way as i've already done the front...complete with my neat res mount brackets which replace the spring mount cover....

Image

Image

I'm waiting on a set of shocks to arrive today sometime to suit more of a 2-3" lift. Fronts are ~560mm ext 8" Travel, Rears are ~665mm Ext and 10" Travel....again, 100% bolt in mounting. Also being made are some 11" travel rears with ~750mm Ext

cheers

That's with the correct configuration from the factory. PIN PIN front and EYE EYE rear. No adapters needed. Price is the same for any length but so far we don't have a lot of lengths in Fox. We have 2" and also 6" and I don't know what else, I haven't asked about what was in the last shipment if any.
