My rocky not engaging in 4 wheel drive

Post by grizzlys_girl »

We have just had a roadworthy done on my 95 turbo diesel rocky and have had to fix the reverse switch underneath( which we are still having trouble with). Now the car won't engage in 4 wheel drive. It was good up until the switches underneath were mucked with. I have even removed the locking hubs and cleaned and regreased them. Can anyone help me with this as I am desperate to get in on the road. Thanks

By won't engage, do you mean the 4wd light on the dash won't light, or the front wheels won't move at all?

If the Rocky's transfer is anything like the Feroza's, behind the switches are oblong (think of a ballbearing stretched 3x width), that slides in and out when the internal selector rod is in certain positions. If that is lost or jammed, or the spring is missing, it may cause shifting issues.

Were ONLY the switches messed with, and not any other bolt?

only the wires have been played with (ie. unplugged and the broken wires tried to be fixed)
so if anyone has a gearbox wiring harness they dont need we might be interested in it

and yes grizzlys_girl is my signifigant other half
