TTC2010 Q & A for Camping at Tuff Truck for spectators
Hi,
This is Jo & Darren the Site Managers for Tuff Truck 2010. this topic is for people to ask relevant questions regarding attending and camping at Tuff Truck 2010.
You may have questions regarding what will happen at the entry gate this year?
Why are we hiring Police?
What can you bring to Tuff Truck?
What things are there for kids to do?
What restrictions are in place ?
etc etc etc
Update: We now have a Q & A page on the Tuff Truck website with most questions that are posted here with answers + others. Please visit TT website first on this page http://www.tufftruck.com.au/news_Q_A.html, as you will find answers to most of your questions here.
we would appreciate that this topic stays on topic and not become a general chit chat session or slanging match. Also this topic will not cover anything to do with Competition side of things as we don't deal with that.
Alternatively most answers to your questions can be found on the Tuff Truck website www.tufftruck.com.au under Menu Topic > News - Current, Event info or Spectator stuff.
We will also be happy for you to PM us if you don't want to post your question here.
*ONE POINT WE MUST STRESS IS THAT THERE WILL BE NO CAMPING PERMITTED BY SPECTATORS ON SUNDAY NIGHT*
*Therefore it is highly recommended that your designated driver be responsible on Sunday
WE ASK THAT ONLY DARREN AND MYSELF ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS POSTED IN THIS THREAD SO THAT ITS FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE YOU ALL ARE GETTING.
Kind Regards,
Jo & Darren

Ok ill step to the plate.
With our tickets we have purchased with use of the showers.
Is it as many times as you like or 1 Shower a day?
I ask cause as most know you do get a bit dirty at tuff truck and since i am getting a bit softer and older i like to have a shower in the morning and night. Plus after driving for a good 10 plus hours it would be great to set up and have a wash and then again perhaps a wash before we head off again sunday arvo.
Cheers Guys.

HI,
Thanks Nottie for kicking this off.
To answer your question regarding the showers
It would be preferable for everyone to limit how many showers they all have a day. I will say that at this stage - as long as you are being sensible ie no longer than 5 min showers and only 2 of those a day should be ok. The water for showers comes from the owners spring fed dam and there could be a shortage surprisingly at event time in which case we will ask everyone to use the shower water sparingly
The shower blocks for spectators will be closed overnight each night, but what times these will be are still yet to be decided, will let you know when we have. As for a shower sunday arvo, please make this early arvo as we shut them down, as they effectively are no longer needed. I will have to discuss with Showers contractor to come up with a shut down time.

Hi Mandamoo, mandamoo wrote:There has been talk of a limit of alcohol to be brought on site. Is this true and if yes, what is the limit? I don't really want to bring a couple of cases of beer to find out it will get confiscated.
To answer your question - yes there was talk of limiting amount of alcohol on to site, but at this stage there is nothing in concrete. I would suggest to go ahead as you plan but bare in mind to be sensible about how much you bring in. We want for everyone to have fun, get a little pissy, not to the obnoxious stage where the police will be then forced to step in.
A big reminder to all is that Tuff Truck 2010 is a NO GLASS EVENT.
This year all vehicles will be searched for any glass bottles or containers before you enter the site and if found, will be confiscated. Please don't bring them.
For clear updates on this particular question, please keep an eye on this thread or on the Tuff Truck website as we get closer to the event.
Cheers,
Jo & Darren
As per the details in the online shop tickets will be sent 2 - 3 weeks prior to the event. if this going to cause problems for you I sugget you email Pete at petera@tuffevents.com.au ashe looks after the shop.B.D.R wrote:G'day mate.

Niss50 yes not long now but we are real sorry you will have to find beer you like in cans as NO GLASS means exactly what it says
Jo & Darren
So that will mean that a lot of guys will opt to drink cans of pre-mixed spirits. And that equals more people being more drunk before lunch time than if they were allowed to drink their beer from a bottle.
Don't get me wrong, I totally understand the ban on glass bottles, but its unfortunate that you guys doing the right thing in one area inadvertantly causes another problem somewhere else.
Can't wait to get down again for Tuff Truck though. Best 4WD event in Australia.
For f--k sake stop wingeing about the frigging grog, you're there to see a four wheel drive comp. If you cant watch it with out getting shit faced maybe you should step back and have a look at your life. While most folks like a drink, I really cant understand that some of you wont turn up cause you cant bring in a Ute load of grog in glass bottles. Or is it that you get that pissed that you see double and instead of forty car competing you see eighty? twice as many roll overs..hey you blokes aren't silly after all.Micka wrote:A beer that tastes good out of a can does not existGQdaz wrote:niss50 wrote:Hi not long now, wot if if the beer we drink only comes in glass

Those who choose to drive in the mud do so because they can't drive the rocks.
Thanks for the reply Jo and Darren.
Make perfect sense what you have stated.
Us queenslanders are used to haveing quick 2 min showers after the water restrictions we have had the last year or so.
Cheers Nottie

Re Read mickas post bud Simply stating a piont with no winging.
And from a bloke who hardly ever drinks.
I dont like any beer in a can (coronas dont come in cans) but we will go by the rules It will make the event even better then the past.
I am all for a beer tent or tents where you go buy tickets and swap them for beer that way they can limit peoples intake

To Micka and Thegun settle down this thread is not meant to be a public slanging match. You of both make good points especially concerning the premixed spirits in cans. We would hope people be responsilble enough to realise they are turning into a pissed idiot and back off otherwise they will be noticed by the boys in blue and dealt with accordingly.
The NO GLASS is a condition put on us by the property owners as it is a working property. Broken glass makes a mess of the cattle and is real pain to clean up.
We understand it makes things a little difficult especially for the ladies who drink cruisers or similar drinks which only come in bottles.
You might be thinking you have got away with it previously but not this year, we will be cracking down severly by searching vehicles entering the site. So to avoid long delays at the entry gates do the right thing and DON"T bring glass.
Darren and Jo

Where is the next pub Im thirsty
There are heaps of girlie drinks that come in cans.
Anyone that wants to mix there own spirits just transfer the spirit into a hipflask or plastic bottle. Its not that hard really.
Wouldnt of though this is such a problem.
What happens if its alcohol free next year?
Cmon guys.........simple rules.
Ive gone to concerts etc and been forced to drink tooheys if i chose to drink. This to me is like drinking out of a gutter After a few its becomes bearable. Not the end of the world if your choice of drink isnt available under these rules.

Hey Jo,
For clubs that are coming up (and not all arriving at the same time), is it a problem if say the first arrivals rope of an area big enough for the club to camp (without going overboard)?
or what would your suggestion be?
Chances are we will prob all arrive together (from our club anyway) but just wanted to put it out there.
Cheers,
Michael

If I'm driving up in the 2wd car, is there any problem getting into camping areas?
Cheers,

Welcome to Tuff Truck!!
Mate there will be no problem for you to take your 2wd car up to the event. its all level access, depending on which area you would like to camp in eg - family(quieter) or party area, you may need to err on caution side but again you won't have any problems.
Cheers,
Jo & Darren

Darren and I are ok with groups coming in and roping off an area for their friends but we ask that you once all your party are in to remove the rope and if there is space left not to block it as camping space at Tuff Truck is a premium and we need to fit everyone in.
Cheers,
Jo & Darren
Hi All,
We have received a quite a few requests from people if they can come and set up camp any earlier than Friday 10am.

This all mainly due to do with insurance
Please DO NOT line up at the entry gate until day break Friday morning.
Cheers,

Hi Guys,
Can you give me an idea of where the camping areas will be this year. Will family be on the flat grassy bit ion the middle, with "non-family" on both sides?
Cheers.

HI Alexcliffo,
did you attend the event last year???
If not, we changed the location for the Party Land people last year. Unfortunately I can't give you a link to the event site map we put in the program each year, so I'll do my best to describe where each area is for you.
Family Camping (so that means no noise after 11pm) is on the flat ground to the left as you first drive into the event site (Past our entry tent & Cattle grid),as you continue up the 'main road' of the site, you will find signage up (we used those flashy lightboards you see on sides of roads last year) directing you straight ahead to family camping or to turn right in to the new Party/general camping area ( this is up and to the left behind the mud event). Family camping now incorporates the old Party Hard/ General camping area and this area is also no noise after 11pm, but the new Party hard/general camping area is much bigger than what they previously had.
The two camping areas are now very seperate, so the people who really what to have a big one and welcome the dawn each day can without disturbing TOO much the families wanting to get some decent shut eye and settling the kiddies a bit better.
Also I have people who will be stationed along the roads to guide to to the 2 different camping areas, so try and chose one before you get to the gates and things will go a bit smoother for you.
But whether you decide to camp in Family or in the Party Camping zones, PLEASE respect your neighbour/s and have consideration for all those around you. We want for you to have fun but please do it responsibly and respectfully and thus no one will have any problems
