Prado vs 4runner

Post by nicbeer »

Hey,

Wondering if there is much difference between the 90 series prado vs 4runner? either petrol or diesel.

looking at them they both are IFS, 4 door wagons, similar driveline etc.

Ultimately looking at 33s or equivalent in 16s, barwork and twinlockers one day.

more of a tourer then hard core offroad.

The Prado will walk all over the 4 Runner as a tourer.

Much more comfortable with a much larger cargo area, and I am a 4 Runner owner.

I don't think there is much comparison when it comes to tourers, the Prado has it hands down.

Cheers

is that much larger? esp the 90 series..

what about offroad, mild-medium?

i know the prado has some good rear flex standard and coils.

driveline strength i am guessing the same or very similar?

Much bigger/useable cargo area,

4 Runners have either 2.4 petrol, 2.8 N/A diesal or 3.0 Lt V6.

All are slugs.

Prado has a better choice of engines, most come with sub tanks already factory installed, etc.

prado has one of the flexiest IFS front ends around, and coils on all 4 wheels, the Runners are Torsion bar and fairly limited in flex because of their design.

Dads got a KZJ95 prado RV, and its a brilliant tourer, 3.0TD, 12L/100, 160L Tanks, 265/75R16 BFG AT's.
2005 HDJ100 Manual, ARB bar, XD9000 winch, ARB rooftop tent + awning, Drawers, Engel, 2" OME lift, 285/75R16 KM2's, iCom, HID XGT's.
