Diff pinion seal

Diff pinion seal
Do i have to take the diff center out to replace the pinion seal? or just drop the tail sharft out and do it from there.

Take the drive shaft off
I allways mark the the Nut on one corner and the diff (so lines match when back on)
Pull out the tab ,I do half turn takes alittle longer with a breaker bar
So start on passengers side horizontal then to drivers side Horizontal along line of diff counting how many turns.
When the nut comes off watch were it does so you put it on the same way,
Pop the seal out put new one back in.
Then put it back in just reverse order.
Other wise Buy a torque wrench find the Torque setting and do it that way.
Never use a Rattle gun you'll over load the Bearing and Mess up the backlash or preload or something I forget

does anyone have any idea what the torque setting is roughly? I just did mine back up to the same point plus 5 degrees. I heard a rumor it's up over 400 nmbeinthemud wrote:Take the drive shaft off

well i would like to see the side of a socket used to hit a seal in. no i mean use a socket the same size as the seal and then hammer the socket to hit the seal inbeinthemud wrote:How ?
