Auto trans Q 100 series

Post by Leeroy »

I tried search but will grow old and die sifting thru everything...

Ok a mate is looking at a 100 series with 1HZ (aftermarket DTS turbo) with auto trans (not common I imagine), and has been told by another mate that his 80 series petrol's auto karked it and the local auto-guru said it was common for them to curl up their toes at around the 250k mark. (the auto that is)
Now the questions;

Is the 1999 1HZ auto (4 speed) the same as a late petrol 80 auto, and if so (or not) is it correct that they commonly fail at around 250k? For the record this car is about 280k so my mate would be concerned if this is the case. It otherwise seems in very good nick, and apart from the turbo pretty much standard.

While he's at it, anything else in particular he should be looking at beyond the usual types of things?

Thanks very much in advance, will save a world of hassle.
