Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone knows where i can get a tailshaft for my '93 J top
i sourced a SWB one from a hardtop and its about two-three inches too long, i didnt realise the diff had a longer nose on the import model. Mine is a 3l V6 too if it makes a difference...
The other option is i get the SWB one shortened and made a little tougher at the same time, hell it only cost 88 bucks so i dont mind chopping it up a little can anyone recommend a good shop to do this in Brisbane, prefer on the northside.
cheers if anyone can help.

big wheel sigma: we have a driveline services (same company from the looks of the website) over here in brendale so ill use them. I just notced your spec sheet reads just like mine cept you got a bigger motor lol.
the tailshaft i got from salisbury wreckers fits on my output shaft and bolts to the diff, its just a bit too long, hopefully wont charge much to have it chopped down.

thats weird. id be taking it back and asking them to ensure its from a swb. the swb and jtop have the same wheelbase so should have the same length tail shaft. other option is that its a swb from a gen 1. think they have shorter transfur case.

Re: J top tailshaft
im just going to get it shortened, its only 180 bucks and i know that the thing will be perfect then... i took the tail shaft from the car myself to make sure it was right.Ella wrote:i sourced a SWB one from a hardtop and its about two-three inches too long, i didnt realise the diff had a longer nose on the import model.
Hey thanks for the PM Jop i didnt realise my car was already known to you lot, it previously belonged to the user "WTF" before my mate i got it from.
Just spent the last hour or so LOLing at his exploits in the thing...NO WONDER IT TOOK TWO WEEKS of cleaning it in my spare time to remove all the mud...
my mate bought it, took it on two trips broke the tailshaft, and then its sat in his back yard for 12 months haha.
was it the front or rear shaft? im asuming the rear as you called it tail shaft...
just seems really weird that they would make a shorter one for the jtop. esp as im sure they have the same wheelbase, and 2-3 inches is a big differance.
