Painting wheels ??
I have roh white powder coated wheels and what to change colour is there a paint that will go over powdercoat...........Dazz
ok truth is... now this is a secret..... what you want to do to prep urself to finally paint on a new coat.... use window cleaner of some sort, like windex or whatever, clean it up real good on all surfaces you plan to paint, rinse off with high pressure washer, then clean with laqure thinner (spelling?), rinse off, then clean again with window cleaner... this'll get all dirt/grim off and wont leave any blimishes underneath your coat of fresh paint. works a real treat!

or you could do like I did. I got a can of spray paint and painted over the rims. 6 years later all I do is touch it up every now and then
Overall cost for the 6 years about $20 as I use the $2.50 paint from Bunnings. It is fine as the car is used for 4wheeling and rims get scratched so why spend big bucks for something that will get scratched

Ransom note = demand + collage
luxute wrote:Getting them blasted and powdercoated would certainly be the best option. Paint doesn,t like to stick to powdercoating cause it is just like painting plastic. Once you start taking them offroad the paint will scratch off the powdercoating and look fairly average.
Yeh thats what i was thinking and because they are still fairly new and paid more money for them because of the 16x7 inch size rather than the common variety 15x7.
Thanks for the advise guys
i got mine sandblasted for $80 all up and powdercoated gunmetal for around $15 a rim
If you think about it if you payed $55 per rim plus the above, then you could have afforded bling bling ally rims.
But we all know that steels are the best look
