MQ Diff Ratio

Post by bn_sil80 »

Hi guys, looking at buying a front diff assembly from a MQ troll. On the compliance plate, it has SD33 bla bla bla, he can't read the rest of the information.

I had the guy remove the inspection plate on the diff and he read "JH37:8 AM1120" of the crown wheel.

Just trying for find out what the ratio is. I need it to be a 4.6.

Cheers

As per the 2nd "diff type" thread in the MQ/MK Bible, on the second page i found this.

Spartacus wrote:alrighty i got this diff open and have found this combo:

JH 37:8 4 5 9

so does this mean its a 4.6?
Patroldude wrote:Divide the 37 by the 8 = 4.625 ;)

Your right!m (none of this counting teeth crap.

Mk
I would then presume that my diff is also a 4.625:1?
I rang nissan this morning and asked, but the fellow said that that number meant nothing, neither did the number stamped on my diff, the only way to know is count the teeth :?

most MQ/K's had 4.6 standard.....including 2.8lt petrols and sd33 swb and LWB

sd33t had the 4.3 ratio's both swb and lwb

some of the late model utes had 4.8 but very rare

some of the early p40 motors had 4.1 but also not common.

Just make sure it was out of a 2.8lt or sd33 and you should be fine

well its coming out of a diesel model. The guy reckons it has SD33 on the engine plate in the engine bay. But has told me its a turbo diesel. i thought maybe it has been turbo'd down the track. No idea :?

Have found out that it was not originaly a turbo, only the sd33. also counted the teeth, and have concluded that it is the 4.6:1, so hopefully this helps out.
