LN106 Duel Battery Tray and Snorkel Question

Post by peejaylux »

Morning All

I was just wondering about a few things regarding my 95 Diesel 2.8ltr LN106 Hilux.

Has anyone heard much about the below duel battery tray.
Asking a few 4x4 stores and looking on here most have advised to put the 2nd battery in or under the tray. A few have put them under the bonnet but a bit of adjustment is needed. Anyone had any experiences with the below tray. It looks to take to smaller batteries.

Also would a snorkel off a 91 4Runner V6 petrol fit on my lux at all

Thanks in advance for any assistance

I havnt seen that style before.ARB did a kit years ago that put the 2nd battery were the airbox is and modified the hell out of the airbox so it sat up on the gaurd. It fitted a full size battery. It is just a sh*t to get the air cleaner out.Not sure if they still do them.

i would not recommend it, it is alot of extra weight on the drivers side inner guard as well as adding to the typical drivers side springa sag they typically get.

Go the the wreckers, find a 4 runner with a 2lte motor (they have factory 2nd battery tray on the LHS) and buy its air filter box assembily. Bring a coardless drill and drill out the spotwelds that hold the factory battery tray in.

Then remove your air box and throw in bin ;), tack weld the tray on your inner guard through the spotwelds, make a bracket and mount the air box, connect up to your intake hose (i usted the 2lte one to suit my turbo pipes)...

Done.

I got mine from a guy wrecking one... only cost me $40..

That way the battery is on the other side and evens out the weight, + you can run a full size battery.

Hey brad, quick question for you. What part no is the air filter that the 2lte air box takes? Is it the A331 or A339? The ryco website lists both for the 2.4 surf... Thanks.

not sure mate, i work away for weeks at a time and my truck is at home... i just keep pulling the old one out and taking it to repco to get a new one...

They have a listing for 3 or 4 under the model it came out of.

EDIT: I asked the my mrs to check and its a A339.... hope it helps.

Thanks for that mate. Yep, thats the one I was hoping it would be, it is physically a bigger filter so thats the airbox I'm after.
