head gasket
head gasket
Does anyone know where i can get ether a multi layer or copper head gasket for my Turbed Tb42 or if you know of a head gasket that will not let go with good boost. Thanks
Personally I would stick with the genuine nissan head gasket, new bolts and have the combustion chambers relieved ever so slightly, standard comp ratio is pretty generous anyway for turbocharging. Failing that when you rebuild get the block O ringed.
I have not seen too many success stories with taller/ copper head gaskets and the TB42 has a marginal clamping arrangement and enough inherent head problems.

Yeh I've been down the head gasket path. Busted 3 grafite compost gasket's then had a copper made .7mm thinner than standard with chamber modified back to original C.R. Twice I tried to get it to seal and still no luck. The copper gasket take's a far bit of hammering but near impossible to seal with out decking the block and or o-ringing to. Ended up changing whole motor over and locking the timing @ 15 degree's with 10 psi boost as I think "MooseBoost" was right with me having detoation problems with 27 degrees total timing.

We hang on to 25 psi boost no problems with a stock Nissan gasket, they fail when the head goes soft. Get a rochwell hardness test if it's 58-100 its OK for NA, over 100 OK for boost. New is about 130 Rochwell.
