A few more Jimny questions

Post by Zooknut »

Hi I have just picked up a 98 Jimny and have a few questions. First of all does anybody have a spare auto gearbox or know where I can get one in Sydney?

2. I have a brand new Calmini mid range cam shaft left over from a zook build a couple of years ago, does anybody know if the single cam fuel injected head has the same cam shaft as the sierra 1.3?

3. Is the 1.6 efi vit throttle body able to fit the jimny?

4. Has anybody got rid of the auto locking hubs and fitted manual hubs and ifso what from?

Thanks all for you help with this. Regards, Nick.

Good luck with that. They are $8500 from suzuki. Keep your eyes open for a wrecked auto jimny.

Nope - cam is shared with baleno only (coil pack 16V motor)

Throttle body? why would you want to put a throttle body injection setup on a car that's already multipoint EFI? If you mean inlet manifold, then I'm not sure why you'd want to swap that either - there's nothing wrong with the jimny inlet manifold - it's nicer than the vit one with the nasty crossover pipe.
4. Has anybody got rid of the auto locking hubs and fitted manual hubs and ifso what from?
Yep Sierra hubs run without the circlips on the axle end, or with spacers under the hubs. It's a common mod. The vacuum hubs are rubbish

i think he means the throttle body from a 1.6 mpi for more air flow, not the tbi system of a swift 1.6.

The MPFI vitara manifold would end up a dogs breakfast of hacked in sensors etc and there's no evidence it flows more air than the jimny manifold.

Thanks for the replies.

I am after just the throttle body, I would just like to help the little engine breath better. I am not going to change manifolds thats too much work, I might look into the GTI one aswell and a set of extractors.

If the Auto box is to hard to get or fix I might look into a conversion to manual.

Thanks for your help with this. Regards, Nick.
