As for arriving early? is there anywhere close by we can sleep on the thur night (swags or in cars)?

Also, Is there any Phone reception there, I have bought tickets for our group and some of us will be arriving at differant times? Will there be a way for them to contact us to come and get thrir tickets if we are already inside?

Fire's?? Is firewood available and are fires permitted (providing there are no fire bans)

Alot sleep in the drive way in there cars as for phone reception very limited all depends on your carrier my telsra get better reception than vodafone

Let me answer BeZerk's question correctly first


What we recommend to do if you arrive well before the official gate opening eg thurs is:

don't come to the event site area, instead if you have come from Singleton or Windsor along the Putty Rd, make the left/right turn into Milbrodale road but don't stop - keep following this road for 10 mins to the end (you will have to cross an old rickety wooden bridge just before the end of the road . you will come to an t-intersection, before this- turn immediately left into MacNamaras Park, its got some facilities and its free !) This park is actually located in Broke. Likewise, the people coming from Cessnock direction along Broke Rd, from Cessnock/wineries as you come into Broke itself, there is a T-Intersection where you turn right and then drive approx 150ms and then turn left into Milbrodale Rd, As you make the left turn to Milbrodale, you will see immediately the entry on the right side to MacNamaras Park. Stay here until early friday morning of which we will then allow people to start lining up at the gate (day break only- 6am AEST)

PEOPLE YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED INTO WELSHES ROAD UNTIL DAY BREAK (6am AEST) FRIDAY MORNING. There will be a security guard on the cattle grid into Welshes Rd.

For Mobile reception - if you have only regular GSM phone coverage, there is none on the event site however those with Next G are fine.
If you drive north up the Putty road 1.5ks or so you will get fairly good reception so to about 5ks up milbrodale rd the same.
What we would recommend re tickets for your mates, is send them to them as soon as you get them or alternatively have a plan in place, that if you get there first and have the tickets, that maybe you walk down to the front gate every 1 - 2 hrs that your mates are due to arrive and hand them over, you cannot leave them with the ladies at the front gate. We don't have a PA system where we can page anyone - sorry.

Firewood - Yes we will have some firewood, but its first in best dressed also I believe Pete intends to have some for sale as well. You can bring in your own, but it MUST be pre-choppped and no longer than 1m as all fires must be kept small and manageable and 'babysat' at all times.

Yes, they are camping where they camped last year, we are extending the temp fencing on that side a couple of metres 1. bit more space for competitors & 2. to create a bit of a buffer zone.

Just a note regarding fires - We will still be in bush fire season so it will be up to the local Rural Fire Service whether they permit us to have fires at all.

As per RFS website fire danger season

The statutory Bush Fire Danger Period runs from October 1st to March 31st, however it may vary due to local conditions. If you are planning to light a fire in the open during this time, you will need a permit.

Depending on the type of fire, a permit may be required all year round or only during the Bush Fire Danger Period. For example, a Fire Permit is required at all times if a fire is likely to be dangerous to a building.

Hi Cruiser,

As DRS replied, yes you can get your caravan into the camping areas with no real problems, as I posted before re question about having a 2wd car, you will have no real problems, a little bit of caution in some parts eg. moving through some of the laneways created, but otherwise you will be fine. What I will ask is that everyone- regardless if you are swagging it - caravaning, that you don't take up anymore space than is actually necessary - have a bit of common sense re this - we do need to fit everyone in

No Glass Rule - this applies to everything. Obviously things like spice containers are not too much of a worry but if you bring them in - make sure you take them out with you. Sauce bottles - if you can use a little nouse - use a plastic bottle for sauces and non alcoholic beverages, again bring plastics cups instead of glass ones etc etc. It is easy if you think about it.

As Darren mentioned in a previous post - NO GLASS > IS WHAT IT MEANS. It is not our rule but the property owners, usually the site is used as ajistment for cattle and the broken glass has caused issues in previous years as I'm sure everyone can imagine.

The event usually winds up around 4 - 5pm and Presentaion of Challenge awards begins not long after 5, which all are welcome to watch and cheer n the winners

In the same boat here,
Means most people will miss out on the sunday arvo comp as they pack up and start to leave, even more so for interstaters, who have to find somewhere, and get there, before night.

I think allowing people to pay for the sunday night would be a better idea, here's hoping they bring it in for next year.

What we do recommend is that if you follow directions I have stated a few posts up re turning up early - to go to that site which is only 10 mins from the Tuff Truck site and is free!!!

Hey guys I noticed that someone last year had a lawn mower with airbags so after we left last year we built one with a draw through turbo setup. We were only gonna use it to tow a small trailer with our esky and gazebo down to the events. We even went so far as to take the deck off so its not dangerous. One of my mates just told me that he saw no motorised vehicles in the rules. Is that new this year? We come down from Bris so don't want to drag it down there any find out its gonna get canned. Do you reckon its gonna be cool or just flag it? Seems a shame, makes boost and everything.

This was posted on the TTC2010 discussion thread and thought it prudent to add it here.

The answer is simply NO. You will see on our website under Event Info, that it is clearly stated that no quad bikes or any other motorised lawn mower, esky, benches, whatevers/anythings etc will be permitted into the event. Primarily in the interest of EVERYONE'S safety. Expect if you bring one, that it will be confiscated.

There will be ice for sale at the event. We haven't set a price yet but we think you can expect to pay around $5 per 5kg bag.

With the no glass rule, some sauces only come in a glass bottle, vegemite comes in glass, what about coffee cups/mugs.
Im not trying to have a go or stir up shite, just asking, as it seems a little harsh to ban ALL glass.
I do agree that broken beverage bottles will provide alot of danger and hassles to everyone involved in/at the event.
Its just that you seem to be going a little overboard, and could end up banning more stuff that will be a danger, ie, knives, gas bottles.

We are cracking down on all things glass as most people are very unaware that when we do the massive job of cleanup, we find A LOT of broken glass over the property - and not just the beer bottles (which yes is the main offender), we find everything glass ends up broken in the plastic garbage bags that we either provided in your show bags or in ones people brought themselves or as in most instances just thrown and left on the ground.
Yes it seems overboard I grant you, but what else do we do???? it was at the insistance of the property owners and our team that we crack down on the glass issue. To be frank - do you want to stay behind and help us clean it up????? get the splinters of glass in your hands, arms and legs????? (and yes we do wear gloves)

All you need to do, is transfer sauces into your old water bottles, buy vegemite in the squeeze packs, most people these days have thermo mugs you can use for your coffee/tea..(or $2 or $3 at local $2 shop).

As I said in an earlier post, if you think about it - its easy to come up with alternatives for glass.

You might, but plenty more don't. As Jo mentioned earlier, it aint fun picking up rubbish, glass, dirty used nappies, rotten food etc. If it sounds tough then bad luck i'm afraid. Who takes glass plates, drinking glasses etc away camping anyway?
So all we're asking from the spectators AND competitors, is to consider those who have to go round and clean up the site when everyone has left. It's not a fun job to do so please help out by cleaning up your campsite. We provide bags to put the rubbish in, and collect it. Even bring a few bags in case they split. It all helps.
