I just did exactly the same thing, I didnt swap the harness,
I have hooked the glow plugs up to a mometary switch on the dash through the original glow relay,
Hooked the fuel cut off solenoid direct to the ignition,
Everything else is fairly straight forward and a lot of things plug into
the TB harness like temp, oil pressure.

I havent got the tacho going yet but I am working on it.
I think it would be a MUCH bigger job changing the whole harness.

cheers mate thats what i was thinking about doing with your problem with the tacho i think you have to change the dash cluster i think it has something to do with the way the sender sends the signal let me know if you work it out.with your engine mounts did you just un bolt the mounts of your tb at the block and bolt them onto the td because on the tb there is only 2 bolt holes on the mount on the chassis on the car that im doing the conversion but the mounts on the td have 4 bolts cheers

My Tb42 was 4 bolt and the Td was 4 bolt as well,
I think you are right about the tacho sender, I have another tacho
gauge that I might try to use.
I also ran bigger fuel line from the tank to filter, as the TD42 uses
a bigger diameter.
Any question just ask,
Cheers mate, Kent.

having done the TB42 to TD42 swap twice now, we went to the effort of swapping looms, takes about 4 hours once the engine is out to remove and reinstall the loom,

on the fuel line sizing, we never noticed that, the stock TD42 lines went onto the TB42 lines with the same effort as it took to get them off,
only think i could think of is we used a 91model TD42 into 88 model petrols, so both early models, maybe the later TD42 used a larger fuel line, but cant see why they would

Yep it would be easier to have the whole loom to change but it what I was saying was it can be done without it.
Believe me I tried to use the petrol fuel lines from the tank (I really didnt need any extra work)
but when I tried to clamp down the TD rubber lines from the injector pump and filter, onto the TB steel fuel line that runs down the chassis, it went on but was just to loose even when tightened as much as I could.

There is not much difference in the size of the line, but I figured every bit of help I can give to the injector pump to help suck through the line is one less problem to sort out later.
