all up i spent about $6000 that is with crossover steering, late model ifs rears, extended shackles, 2inch lift blocks in the rear,rs9000 all round, A-frame rear shock kit, extended brake line, shock hoops, ubolt flip kits front and back, that includes engineering and a few extras i changed along the way but i also picked up my shocks dirt cheap off a mate
One think to remember if your gonna do it, is that you won't get back what you put into it if you sell it in the near future. If your happy with the vehicle and want to keep it for a long time then go ahead. Its not that difficult a job to do, you can get someone to weld the front hanger and drill and tube the chassis for you then its really just a bolt on job for the front, except for welding the shock hoops.
Im SASing mine later this year sometime.
I have a hilux extra cab IFS and they never had solid front since like 85 or somthing. So if they dont build them the way ya want it then its time to go custom .
Same applies to a Surf/Forerunner. If you are happy with it but want more your only option is a SAS.
Now if someone said should I SAS a 98 Hilux IFS single cab Id say NO WAY just go trade in and buy 96 solid fronted one.

buying a IFS and doing a SAS can work out cheaper than to do up a solid axle front specialy if its already has a 2" lift.
with IFS you`ve got the wider rear housing, got longer leafs already got the steering box for x over steer use your old hubs to widen the front.
by doing a SAS you`ve got to custom shock tower anyway and use x over steer choose what ever leafs and shackles you want.so the only exspence is to get a front diff and hangers and lengthen your front shaft and maybe some new rims.

SAS on 2000 mod Hilux
Just finished my SAS on 2000 mod, cost me approx $4500 but depends on what parts you use and how you do it.

Been considering SAS for a while, but biggest concerns are stability/handling and safety of the vehicle after. We also use our lux for long trips and daily driver with 2 young kids. Can't afford to compromise safety.
What about those who have had Solid Axle from the start ie 1996 and prior. If its the same in principle, if it wasn't safe no one would be driving these vehicles.
So stability and handling SHOULD be the same as a standard solid axle lux or similar.

Yeah, I guess I'd never considered it like that. Suppose it comes down to the quality of the work in doing the conversion
i did 1
my solid axle swap turned into an 8inch lift and as anevery day driver its fine everyone claims it looks unstable but to ride in it i feel its fine alittle dicey climbing rocks but i think thats just nerves getting the better of me

Save your cash, then get a old sh$ter and spend the cash on that and tow it around that way if you wreck it it dosn`t matter.
