My GQ only has a 2" suspension lift, and fibreglass flares, i want to put 33" MTR's under it but i'm a little concerned as to whether they'll scub on full flex???
Anyone got an answer??
Thanks guys???
80series SAHARA, 3" lift, 33" Cooper STT's, F & R Lockers, (they're still cheating though)
Dunno, on my LWB I fitted 35inch claws with a 3 inch lift (no body lift) I would have thought they would fit as a mate has 285's on a gq with a 2 inch lift. Go to the tyre shop and try one on. Hope it helps.
I didn't have flares or mud flaps on my GQ shorty with 2"susp lift. And the only place they rubbed was on the inside of the guard. Which didnt worry me. Tyres where 285/75R16's (33).
I rekon runem and dont worry about it as there are people around with 6"susp kits and they can get 31s to rub on the inside wheel arch or chassi.
Only way to stop this is space the bump stops down abit (this limits up travel).
Travel good rubbing bad. The cops can ping you for having tyre with scrub marks in inside of wheel arch. So carry a can of black paint. Mine rub so I paint them.
Plus if they are rubbing, limiting up travel to just before they touch aint going to change your wheel travel very much. As once it hits it isnt going to go any further.
no scrubbing on the front. Very little on the back & only on the chassis on absolute full travel and only light rubbing. Lift wont fix that really, wheel spacer would though. Rear inners rub very little as well. Also bear in mind that i have also adjusted the rear panhard rod so it is centralised as well.
ta
they are the same as Nissan offset. call locky at Procomp, he will set u straight
Only prob is that this guy is in Sydney. But they are just an ROH trak 2rim(mine are 16x8,16x7 and 15x8 all ROH). This is there std offset, but you can ask for the toy offset, but I am pretty sure they dont actually make a nissan offset rim.
As for shops any tyre shop will be able to help you out. Just before you go in have a look at the Nissan rim (15x7 with nissan stamped on it). You will notice that it isnt a very deep dish, where as if you have alook at another aftermarket rim to suit. It will look like it has a deeper dish (rim is mounted further out compared to where the spokes are welded).
billy-x wrote:My rims are 15x7 or 15x8, not to sure though, they're sunrasia's, and they're deffinately offset!!!
Will they help at all with the rubbing on the inner guards???
To find out what size the rim is. It will say on the side of the rim. If they are factory GQ rims they will say 15x7JJ NISSAN (pretty sure) or 16x7 or 16x8 (these where only alloy's though). Colour is the usuall white steel rim. Another way to tell if they are factory rims or not is by looking at the flares and mudflaps. As the factory wide wheel packs, have a plastic flare with a rubber (re-inforced with steel) mud flaps. Where as aftermarket or dealer fitted most of have rubber or firbeglass flares and those mud flaps you can buy from autopro etc.
Most of the steel rims look very similar. As for them being sunrasia's (spelled wrong but dont know the proper way either) I wouldn't imagine they are, as this company has been out of bussiness since the early 80's.
If they scrub the front guards it will most likely only happen once
