yes i know another one and i have done a search and read the bible (hilux that is) I want lift and flex I read a little about mazda leafs

What type of mazda are they talking about ?

Would ifs rears be better

sorry im new to leafs im used to coils and torsion bars
if you aint covered in mud you aint trying hard enough

Ive havent heard much about mazda leafs, Ive heard about falcon rears, but mostly RUF(rears up front) and IFS rears seem to be the pick for most people running solid axle luxs.

so IFS rears upfront (SR5) what about the back?

I would like about 3-4" of lift without going crazy length shackles
if you aint covered in mud you aint trying hard enough

why not just do a 2 inch suspension and 2 inch body? and maybe some 33's and u will have a pretty capable rig

From the reading ive done through this forum, and I could be wrong as Im not looking into changing spring packs just yet.
RUF is your rear springs in the front, will move diff forward 35mm, and I think you will need to have longer shackles to run them.
IFS rears is just that, IFS rear springs in the back, but Im sure if they go straight in or not.
Lux89 has alot of info in his build thread about these mods, I think Wiener and Da Runner and lots of others do as well.
But like I said, Im not sure on the exact ins and outs of these mods, check those build threads and if youre still not sure, PM the guys that have done this mod themselves, they will know for sure.

my luxy has ruf and ifs rear plus rear diff moved back about 2 more inches and a few leafs out of the packs and layed back long long shackles i get the back wheel to my shoulder on flex ramp, love it. people with their patrols are blown away cos it doubles them .. with the ruf you have to get longer spline front tailshaft too and remove ladder bar and stuff but well worth it :idea:

yeah i go out with him all the time, hes my bro, aand yeah sometimes i feel like putting a match to my gq and getting a lux. it is also the smoothest thing to drive on the road, i have super super soft springs and rather his thing on the road, its amazing watching it at roundaboutas, it just leans right over,
well setup unit, i would swim through piss and sh1t to sign a cheque over to own it :lol:

Well im impressed never seen leaves work like that even drop shackles and soft leaves dont do that normally :shock:

Keep that pic handy for whenever theres a coil vs leaves argument!

Just how long are these shackles and how many leaves in the pack???

the shackles are about 300mm layed right over on about a 45 deg, theres 3 leaves in the rear and 4 in the front plus the little leaf thats only about 300 long.
also has dropped crossmember and sits pretty at a tiny 6ft to the roof on 35s

Whats that goodness ugly thing in the Back ground,Looks like Someone Kicked it in the Butt .

that thing in the background has to be the most rediculous patrol ever,
its straight gas, rb30, shit dualcab(not a fan on duallies) ,now has like an old trampoline as a tray, super duper heavy duty suspension all round, about the only good thing it has atm is the 40"mtrs on -44 17x9, she needs some love

i just broke the drivers side rear spring last night a few months ago i broke the pass side thats enought for me so now i gonna put 18'' coilovers in the ass so need to find some cheapies i'm hoping to do all the work here and purchase for around the grand mark will see how it flex's than

OHH I dont know how anyone says i've never seen leaves work like that?, have a look on pirate at the pickups, they put the big boys patrols to shame with leaves, granted there a dog to drive on road, but so is a ridiculously soft patrol with no sway bars.
