It would help if you told us which vehicle???

For most solid axle assemblies, holding the cv vertically and whacking the bell with a rubber/leather hammer will release the axle

Ok i got the cv bell off the axle but bashing it off breaks the circlip on the very end of the axle (inside the bell) when i replace with a new CV how do i get the circlip back on?? There is no possible way i could get to it once the axle is in there.

The only way i can think of is compress it like rings on a piston and slide the bell over it and down the axle, is this the correct way?

Circlip goes in the groove before you refit the cv. Its a destroy to remove and fit a new one thing.

I did this, a small spot of weld on the inner wear line of the spline. Hope it helps.
