92 hilux diff Qs.
im after peoples opinions on which is the best ratio to run. i have a 92 desiel lux and i am planning to turbo (surf for now) and run 33s it is a daily driver so i am hoping to gear it close to standard.
should i stick with 4.3 and let the turbo help out, or change to 4.5or 4.88 to maintain a lower crawl ratio(low range)
also looking at fitting a LOKKA to the rear and was wondering if i need an open centre to do so? any advice would be appreciated..

Open centre diffs are pretty easy to come across. If you are talking about the 4wd systems lokka, pretty sure they now do it to suit LSD hemisphere.
Otherwise just buy detroit style/brand (pretty much same thing) also pretty sure they do to suit LSD centre probably get a good deal if you buy from the states at the moment.
I've used 4wd systems lokka before and installed myself if you want to know more PM me

mine was/ is perfect with 33's and 4.88's 35's are nearly 10kms out with the 4.88 so they are suited to the 33's better..
Did not make a difference between the 2.8 diesel and 3.0L N/A diesel...

ive just put 4.8s and twin lockers in my 2.8 hilux still on 32s.It revs a bit harder but helps the poor old thing on hills.
After driving it tho i think ill only go up to a 33 should be pretty good then i think

my 2.8 ln106 with surf turbo pushed 33's along with 4.3 diffs no problem, hwy speeds 110 no worries. offroad ive never noticed the need to ride the clutch to slow momentum when crawling about, but if you were hardcore crawler you would have transfer gears anyway.
the turbo and 33's will be loads quicker than NA and 31's.
The hilux speedo is out by like 7% from memory so 33's actually make it closer to correct than it was at factory.
4.3's, 4.5's or 4.88's are all fine for on and off road 31's and 33's, but for 35's i would hit up 4.88's.
I have had 4.88 and 4.3 diff centers in my lux with locker with a combination of 31's and 33's, so i speak from personal use.

ok guys thanks for all the great advice. ill start looking for a set of open 4.56 gears as i still have about 45% of my 31s left, also if i ever get defected on the 33s i think the 4.56s will suit the 31s better. if i am after a better crawl ratio at a later stage ill look at doin transfer gears as i understand these only affect low range?
