Repco sell the ABW brand 54mm hub socket. Might not be at all stores though so ring your local and they'll tell you which store has it.

Otherwise try the usual tool stores and other auto part suppliers like Bursons and Supercheap.

FYI the ABW part no is 71950 (about $80 at Repco though so that's double what you'd pay at Locktup)

As John posted above, online auto parts have them, I think from memeory they are $30 odd posted.
I had my front axle to rebuild not so long ago, and I could not find a store that had a 54mm hub socket in stock anywhere in NSW.
I tried truck part shops, tool specialists, auto stores, tried to order one in only to find out that it wold take 6weeks to come in.
So I ended up getting Online auto parts number off their ebay ad, rang them and got it posted to me. took a couple of days to get here.
As was said, they are in brissy, so it wouldnt take long to get to you.

yeah the book says the nissans are 53 mm, i wouldnt have thought 1 mm would make a difference on something that large?

i just ordered a socket to do mine, wasnt cheap though, about 60 bucks or something. turned out i didnt need it and took i back

1mm is the difference it's not going to fit by. Of course it wont work. All you will do is round the edges of the nut and fark it. Unless it's only finger tight, you might have some luck with a socket that's too big then.

Cold chisel is the way to go untill you spot a cheap socket just hard to get the right pre load

54mm or 1mm out should work on 53mm nuts they're not supposed to be done up tight seen it done plenty of times.

i work in an industry that is full of 40-80mm nuts and bolts and i can tell you now, 1mm doesnt mean anything on a 6 point socket. even using a hy-torc to 3000 lb/ft 1mm doesnt matter... thats about 5900 more torque than a wheel bearing retaining nut.

id say the socket was shit or you fucked up
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown

It does when the nut is only about 4mm thick like the bearing nuts are.
ABW 2-1/8" hub nut sockets fit the GQ nuts perfectly. 3/4 drive too.
