2H 12HT flywheel question

Post by brendan rooke »

Hey fello cruiser clan

A question that i should know the answer to but just wanted a second opinion....

Does the 2H flywheel have the same bolt pattern to the 12HT?

Im doing a 5 conversion in my auto HJ61.

Cheers.

Yes, 2H flywheel will bolt onto the 12HT crank. I am pretty sure that the 2H and 12HT flywheel are exactly the same. Just make sure you use a decent heavy duty clutch and pressure plate, 12HT has a heap more torque and will suff a standard 2H clutch if you tow and give it a hard time.

Make sure the flywheel remains thick enough for the clutch bolts to pull the pressure plate in properly.

Mine must have been machined before I got it, or lightened (who knows why you'd lighten a diesel flywheel), and when new pressure plate was installed it didn't pull up properly. soon after I drove it the pins fell out making a hell of a racket as they bounced around inside the bell housing.

Due to the pressure on the pressure plate as it was being torqued up, the mechanic never noticed the problem and the machine shop never measured the flywheel thickness - normally not an issue.

A new flywheel fixed the problem
