TB42 Turbo vs TB48
TB42 Turbo vs TB48
Thoughts?
Seems like a similar budget for each option, and am not searching for 1000bhp, just about 150 rwkw.
Going in a GQ manual.
Couldn't be fagged with a v8 conversion, love to sound but too much work/fiddling around. I would never turbo the tb48, just needs to turn 33's and get up the hills on the highway at 110kmh.
Does the TB48 use the same engine mounts?
TB42 Turbo would be intercooled, and TB48 would have an aftermarket computer.
Any thoughts would be very appreciated. Also if anyone knows where to get a tb48 - Yes i've tried the regular Vic wreckers, but nowhere really stocks them as they sell so quickly. And yes i've searched!

My friend has a gu tb48 and yes it is very quick. Since he has had it put on gas we have had nothing but trouble. Engine warnins, starting problems and many sensor issues. I have heard this a lot with other tb48 owners who have mucked around with this engine. It has way to many sensors and other electronic crap to fart around with in an atempt to get it right. I also believe you may have a problem getting it to work with a manual gear box as I think the 5 speed tip tronic transmition in the gu 4.8 also is tied in with the engine management, more electronic crap to overcome. If I were you I would stick to turbo the tb42 or 45. This is tried and proven a success as you can see for your self. Do a search on the subject here and get all the info you need. You said your self you don't want to muck around.
Yeah you're right, the TB42 isn't that bad, and it can turn 33's fine, but i've been driving one for a while now and was looking to have a something with a little bit more power.ludacris wrote:The TB4.2 will turn your wheels without a Turbo and if need be change the diff ratios to 4.3 or 4.6 for more power.

Would the TB48 suffer these gas issues with vapour or liquid injection?
