HI just put brannd new rims and tyres on my gu ute today,(35x11.5-16s silverstone extreems) driving anything over about 50 kays the car and steering wheel just shakes something crazy, i know they are noisey and are a mud tyre, but i only want them for the weekends,i also run 33 mtz during the week, my question is the tracks from my house are an hour away and all 100 k limit, how do you guys with the simex etc travvel to your locations as with these i feel its going to be impossible, i really dont want to have to take both sets and change them in the bush,? thanks

Wait until you park your car on them for a few days, you think they shake now... wait till they flat spot

tuffgu42, it is what it is mate, there is no way in the World any one can expect a tyre like the Silverstone to run well on Road .
It's a purely off road type tyre, but they are roadable, you just have to get used to them
Get them rebalanced, some shops will do a half arsed job at it, i had to get my Pedes done Twice
I run Pedes, i find them fine, i run them every where spose i got used to them, but there is no way i could compare them to a Raod biased tyre, they just aint that way inclined .
I agree with Bogged, if you want to know vibrations, do what i did, park up for 5 weeks on 18 pound then forget, and take it to the shops

Have you had the silverstones balanced? I have had a few sets and can drive for a couple of hours not that bad. And mine could only be balanced on the inside of the rims due to the outer strengthening ring. But in the end i put powder inside them that seems to work the best.
GQ Ute V8, EFS lift, Silverstones.
if they are new make sure the tyre fitters fitted them properly. the yellow dots should lign up with the valve stems. they can be a real PITA to balance but ive heard the balancing compuonds work well in them..

i run pedes on my sierra and theyre like mike_nofx has said - driving with a spitfire tailgating you =) but you get used to that. They dont corner as well as my cooper stts did, but they do grip better on wet road which is odd, but great.
as for balancing, 3 of mine balanced up great and one has 280grams on it!!!!!! but im also running tubes as i kept getting mud in the bead.

I've had this on my sierra for nearly a year now. I've had them rebalanced once in that time as they were getting out of balance from banging around in the bush on low tyre pressure.
I never run over 25psi. At this pressure they're as smooth as a highway terrain at any road driveable speed. I can sit on 110 with them without vibration troubles.
They are noisy as hell, but at road pressure they're smooth.
If I leave the beach and drive on road with low pressure (5-7psi) I get a pulsing vibration, but not bad enough to force you to restrict the speed you drive at.
Find a new tyre shop and get a decent balance. Either your specific set of tyres is at fault (flat spot/out of round) or your tyre fitter is a wingnut.
