Going through the rules last night. Very drunk. I could not tell if there is still open class, 37's, twin winch motors, free spool, engine conversions, coil overs ect. Please clarify Stirlo. What are the new changes too please.

The rules & regulations for modified class are:
1. Event Format and Regulating Body
1(a). Special Stages (SS‟s) will be varied with a major emphasis on safety. SS‟s will be designed to test off road driving, navigation, recovery skills and team work.
1(b). The SS results will determine the place getters. Scoring will be a combination of the elapsed time, less any penalties incurred by teams, as specified in the competition rules.
1(c). The Competition Manager will head the Event Committee. The Committee Members will be officials appointed by the Competition Manager.
2. Vehicle Classes and Equipment Check
2(a). Classes : Standard
Modified
2(b). Vehicle and all equipment are required to be available at the appointed time. A team representative must be present during these checks.
2(c). Vehicle must be presented in a „ready to start‟ condition including all compulsory equipment.
2(d). Vehicles that fail the inspection process will render the entrant liable for exclusion. A second and final inspection at a later time may be carried out. Vehicles must pass the second process or they may be excluded from starting the event.
Note: It is the competitors‟ responsibility that their competition vehicle complies with the SSS Winch Series „2010 Rules and Regulations‟
3A. General Vehicle Specifications “All Classes”
The event is only open to all road registered roadworthy 4 wheel drive vehicles. All vehicles are or were sold to the general public by the manufacturer. Prototype vehicles are not allowed.
3A1. Compulsory Equipment
3A1(a). Vehicles shall carry one 1.8kg or two .9kg operable dry powder fire extinguishers, mounted securely and within easy reach of the driver and co-driver. Minimum standard AS1841.5.
3A1(b). Jack, wheel brace and spare tyre assembly.
3A1(c). Recovery Kit (minimum):
Snatch strap
2 x 8000kg tree trunk protector (minimum width 75mm)
2 x Snatch block
2 pair finger enclosed leather or material gloves
All shackles to be rated at 3.25 or better or double ended hooks must be rated 3.25 or better
2 x 1kg (dry weight) cable dampeners (500mm x 900mm recommended size)
Winch extension
Ground anchor
All recovery equipment to be stored at the start of each SS.
3A1(d). A comprehensive „First Aid Kit‟. An approved sticker/sign placed externally shall indicate its position on board. Sticker must be no more than 1m from kit.
3A1(e). Waffle boards/bridging ladders are recommended.
3A1(f). 2 x torches or headlamps
3A1(g). 10L minimum of drinking water. Can be camelbaks, water bottles etc.
3A1(h). Helmets for driver and co-driver.
3A2. Communications Equipment
3A2(a). Competition vehicles must be fitted with a UHF (477 MHz) radio and must be tuned to the competition channel (UHF #11) at all times. It is the competitors responsibility to listen to the competition channel at all times, from drivers briefing at the start of the competition to the close of the competition. A 10 point penalty will apply if not adhered to after 1st warning.
3A2(b). During the SS the UHF radio must be tuned to the assigned SS channel.
3A2(c). Use of radios during the SS is allowed.
3A3. Body/Chassis
3A3(a). Full harnesses will be fitted for all occupants, the minimum being a four point full harness, and will comply at least with AS2596, E35, SF116.1, FIA Standard 8853 or 8854, 8853/98 or 8854/98 or European Standard ECE R-16. The full harness must not be frayed, torn or damaged in any way.
In all cases of mounting the following must be observed:
Floor mounting points must be reinforced with a 3mm steel plate of at least 75mm x 50mm on the underside of the body.
Full harness rear mounting point or points must be to a substantial part of the vehicles structure, reinforced as may be appropriate or to the roll cage. Or reinforced as above if through body bolts are used.
Where possible, the full harness will be approved and plated by Transport Department or Engineer in state of registration. A Statutory Declaration signed by the owner stating that the mounting complies with SSS Winch Series Rules & Regulations and that they take full responsibility for installation of the full harness into the vehicle, is also required.
3A3(b). Original chassis must remain but can be modified/strengthened. Tube chassis are not allowed.
3A3(c). A recovery point (painted red) is required for both the front and rear of the vehicle and if mounted to the chassis a minimum of two 12mm, or four 10mm, Grade 8 (or equivalent) high tensile bolts be used. Minimum recovery point is a rated lifting lug (1.4T) with a 19mm thread.
3A3(d). Items carried in the vehicle must be secured adequately while the vehicle is in motion.
3A3(e). Vehicles must be fitted with a full internal roll cage starting at the „A‟ pillar. Wagons to be a 6 point and utilities a 4 point with a recommendation that 2 forward braces from the main („B‟ pillar) hoop to the floor be fitted.
1. Tubing used in manufacture of hoops and bracing shall be round section cold drawn steel tube CDS, CDW or CEW and comply with the requirements of AS1163 1981 or better, „Circular and Non-Circular Steel Tubes for Mechanical and General Engineering Purposes‟.
Minimum sizes:
Main hoop „B‟ pillar 45mm diameter Wall 2.5mm.
Straight braces 38mm diameter Wall 2.5mm.
Bent braces „A‟ pillar 38mm diameter Wall 2.5mm
2. Roll cage structure must not obstruct front seat access nor encroach upon the area occupied by driver and co-driver.
3. Main hoop „B‟ pillar must be a maximum 150mm behind the driver and co-drivers head. It is recommended that 2 diagonal braces in the plane of the main „B‟ pillar hoop be fitted. The „A‟ pillar and „B‟ pillar hoops and all other tube work to be placed as close as near possible to the roof in order to limit crushing in the event of a roll over. The forward tube work from main hoop „B‟ pillar to „A‟ pillar hoop should be placed adjacent to and horizontal with the door frame as close as possible to the roof in order to limit crushing in the event of a roll over.
4. The right and left hand tube work must be mounted in such a manner that it does not obscure the driver‟s vision past the „A‟ pillar and doorframe combined.
5. Mountings will comprise of an upper mounting plate attached to the roll cage and a lower mounting plate, sandwiching a section of the vehicles structure between them. The following requirements outline minimum sizes for mounting plates. Smaller width plates minimum 45mm wide may be used provided that the overall area is not reduced.
Mounting plates to be steel 100x100x6mm for vehicles over 1150kg and 100x75x6mm for vehicles under 1150kg. The lower mounting plates must be at least 100x45x6mm. At least two 10mm Grade 8.8 high tensile bolts are required at each mounting point.
6. Where roll cage mounting bolts pass through a hollow section of the vehicles structure, the section must be locally reinforced to prevent crushing.
7. Continuous lengths of tubing will be used for all braces and main hoops, with smooth continuous bends and no evidence of crimping, wall failure or significant section weakening. All welds will be full penetration butt welds. All other types of joins will be done to accepted engineering and competition standards.
8. Upper sections of the roll cage or bracing (where they may contact occupants) must be fully protected with high-density foam or equivalent, of at least 15mm thickness. Hollow cylindrical pipe insulation may be utilised for this purpose.
9. In open top vehicles, the driver and co-driver profiles, including shoulders, must be within the main hoop viewed from the front of the vehicle. All open top vehicles will have a solid cover fitted over driver and co-driver head area of 3mm alloy or 1.6mm steel.
Where possible, roll cage must be approved and plated by Transport Department or Engineer in state of registration. A Statutory Declaration signed by the owner stating that the manufacture and installation complies with SSS Winch Series Rules & Regulations and that they take full responsibility for the manufacture and installation of roll cage into vehicle, is also required.
3A3(f). Doors and window nets must be fitted to all vehicles. The window net must cover 70% of the window opening. The net shall be made of a non-flammable (nylon webbing) material with mesh size no greater than 50mm, fitted to the drivers and co-drivers doors or roll over protection structure above the drivers‟ and co-drivers‟ windows. It must be secured in such a way that it can be removed at any time from both inside and outside the vehicle with the door closed. (Nets secured with zip ties are not allowed).
Note: All nets will be tested at scrutineering before competition. Nets must be able to be removed within 5-10 seconds from inside the vehicle.
3A3(g). Wagons, dual cabs or well back utes must have a metal cargo barrier fitted behind the driver and co-driver seats, immediately behind the roll cage.
3A4. Fuel Systems
The Competition Manager reserves the right to reject any fuel tank that is deemed to be unsafe.
3A5. Steering/Suspension
Rear wheel steering is not allowed.
3A6. Driveline
All vehicles must have an operable handbrake.
3A7. Wheels and Tyres
3A7(a). Agricultural tyres and wheel chains of any type are prohibited.
3A7(b). Wheel spacers are not allowed.
3A8. Electrical System
3A8(a). A mechanical battery isolation switch is to be fitted to the battery or batteries providing power to the competing vehicles electrics. This is to be placed within reach of driver and co-driver whilst secured in vehicle. (The winch circuit is exempted).
3A8(b). External power sources/invertors are not allowed.
3A9. Winch
3A9(a). Winches must be fitted with an operational automatic brake. If the automatic brake is damaged during a SS it must be replaced/repaired before any more SS‟s are attempted.
3A9(b). Winch cable must be in a serviceable condition.
3A9(c). Winch cable hooks must have a working safety catch (no open hooks) for all SS‟s. If a safety catch is damaged during a SS, it must be repaired or replaced before attempting any more SS‟s.
3A9(d). Winch cables shall be of high tensile steel compatible to your winches rating. Mild steel cables with a hemp centre are not allowed.
Synthetic rope is allowed, but it is the owner‟s responsibility that the synthetic rope is rated the same or better than the standard cable used on the vehicles winches.
3A9(e). Steel cables will have professionally swaged loops. Synthetic rope will be spliced. Steel cables may be temporarily repaired on a stage but must be replaced or professionally repaired before attempting the next SS.
3A9(f). Winch cables are to be fully spooled at the start of each SS.
3A9(g). Winch cable is allowed to be wrapped at the finish of an SS. The protruding “horns” must not be pointy and be made of material with a minimum diameter of 15mm and have a radius of 50mm, length and distance apart is optional.
3A9(h). Rigging will be done to the safe working capacity of the equipment.
3A9(i). Cable dampener is to be placed in centre third of winch cable at start of winching. The dampener must not be rolled or permanently stored/attached on the cable/strap.
3A9(j). If roller fairleads are being used they must be in a serviceable condition before the start of any stage.
3A10. Exhausts
Exhausts must protrude behind the cab no less than 300mm on utes and must be in the standard position for wagons.
3A11. Cameras
3A11(a). Reversing camera‟s and winch camera‟s are allowed.
3A11(b). Camera‟s for in car footage are allowed.
3A11(c). Any camera that assists with negotiating obstacles under the vehicle are not allowed.
3A12. Advertising
Competitors are allowed to fix any kind of advertising to their vehicles provided that:
3A12(a). It is not offensive.
3A12(b). They do not encroach into areas reserved for event sponsors, competition numbers and event decals, namely the front doors. (Maximum sized area required for the competition number and event decals is 600mm x 400mm).
3A12(c). Event decals shall be fitted to reserved areas when supplied.
3C. General Vehicle Specifications “Modified Class”
3C1. Wheels and Tyres (No. 3A7 General Vehicle Specifications All Classes)
Tyre combination: 940mmx370mm (37” or smaller).
(These measurements are horizontal measurements with tyre pressure at 24psi). Wheel and tyre combinations can protrude past the vehicle body but such protrusions must be covered by flare material.
4. General Event Regulations
4(a). The Special Stage Manager will be in charge of any recovery operations during SS‟s by either controlling the recovery personally or nominating an official as the Recovery Leader. In the interest of safety, all competitors must abide by the Recovery Leader‟s instructions. Only one Recovery Leader will be nominated for any situation.
4(b). Controlled Winch Area – Gate:
The vehicle must come to a complete stop in a “Controlled Area” before the gate can be opened. The only exception to this rule is if the vehicle is already being winched into the area, in which case the gate can be opened prior to the vehicle entering. If gate is pre-opened under any other conditions a 20 point penalty will apply. A “Did Not Finish” (DNF) will be awarded if vehicle does not stop.
4(c). The vehicle will have only one attempt to drive out of the “Controlled Area”. If forward momentum is not achieved you then must commence recovery.
4(d). When 2 wheels roll out of the “Controlled Area”, you then must commence recovery.
4(e). When 2 wheels enter a “Controlled Area” you are deemed to have entered the area and must winch/recover through the gate.
4(f). When punches are used in a SS, the card must be punched prior to entering the finish garage or crossing the finish line. Missed punches not recorded on the card, cards or punches removed from their attachment point will incur a DNF for that SS.
4(g). When vehicle has lost forward momentum on entering an obstacle or slope, winching/recovery must commence without further attempts at driving. A 20 point penalty will apply if a second attempt is made.
4A. Parts/Groups
4A(a). Breakdowns and repairs must be completed in the field or in the designated pit. Failure to notify the Competition Manager or designated official of intent to remove competition vehicle from these areas for repair will incur a 50 point penalty. An ETA (estimated time of arrival from outside areas) WILL be required and failure to meet this will incur a 50 point penalty. In addition, if competitors leave parts (including broken & new), rubbish, rags etc they will incur a 50 point penalty if not removed by end of the day the SS was completed.
Note: Fellow competitors are allowed and encouraged to assist with repairs and loan tools.
4A(b). When all competitors in your group have completed the SS the group will then be allowed to leave the SS area to move to the next SS.
Note: All competitors must remain within the competition area until ALL groups have finished before being directed back to base by the Competition Manager.
4A(c). When a competitor “Hold” area has been designated, you MUST stop and wait with the vehicle until directed to move to the next SS.
4A(d). Groups will stay together unless directed by the Competition Manager. A 20 point penalty will apply to any infringements of rules 4A(b) & (c).
4B. Scoring and Awards
4B(a). Teams that DNF and pass the marker will receive 20 points. Teams that fail to reach SS marker will receive zero points.
Teams that complete the SS will be allocated points in order of merit from fastest to slowest as follows:

4B(b). Timing will be scored to the 10th of a second.
4B(c). If 2 or more competitors finish a SS with the same elapsed time, they shall be awarded equal points and placing in the SS. The competitor with the next fastest time shall be placed according to their own finishing positioning in that SS. The placing left vacant due to the tie will not be allocated.
4B(d). In the case of a tied score in Major Awards, the winner will be decided by a count back. The winner being the one with the least amount of penalties incurred. If this fails to break the tie, total time of all SS‟s will be used. The fastest time will win.
4B(e). Competitor and Special Awards will only be given to those in attendance at presentation.
4C. Protest
4C(a). Protests by a competitor must be on a “SSS Winch Series Protest Form” and handed to the Competition Manager within 2 hours of receiving the scores for the particular SS. Vehicle related protests by another competitor must be in before the start of 2nd day of competition. All protests must be submitted with $200.00, which shall be forfeited if the protest is dismissed.
4C(b). Members of the Event Committee will be required to judge on any formal protest and must have a 2/3rd majority for the protest to be upheld.
4C(c). A selected representative (previously elected driver or co-driver) from the event competitors will be allowed to sit in on the protest proceedings if desired.
4D. Prohibited Behaviour
4D(a). No competitor will seek favour from, influence, manipulate, obstruct or interfere with the duties of any member of the Competition Committee. Any competitor found doing so will be immediately disqualified for the current event.
4D(b). No competitor will interfere or tamper with any other competitor‟s vehicle. Any competitor found doing so will be immediately disqualified for the Series.
4D(c). Any competitor who approaches an official and queries them about another competitors stage results and/or penalties will incur a 100 point penalty.
4E. Sportsmanship
The goal of the SSS Winch Series is to promote a respectable sport and promote sponsors in a professional light. During all SSS Winch Series Events appropriate sportsmanship is expected.
Any unsportsmanlike behaviour and conduct will not be tolerated. If a competitor or team member (including supporters etc) promotes unsportsmanlike conduct, is rude or abusive to officials, landowners, fellow competitors, local authorities, sponsors, destroys property, displays drunken or disrespectful behaviour, they and/or the entire team may be disqualified from the current event and/or future events.
4F. Environment
4F(a). Campsites, assembly, holding and work areas, are to be left clean. Parts (new or broken), rubbish, rags etc will incur a 50 point penalty.
4F(b). Failure to use a tree protector during winching operations may result in a DNF being recorded for the SS.
4F(c). Blackboys are not to be touched, winched off or removed. This will incur an automatic DNF. Blackboys are protected and carry a penalty by law.
4F(d). Any vehicle leaking other than water may be excluded from competition until repairs are effected.
5. Regulations for Special Stages (SS‟s)
5(a). Driver and co-driver are the only persons allowed in the competing vehicle during an SS. Co-drivers can compete if they turn 15 years of age in the racing year (eg before 31 December of relevant year). The driver must have a current Driver‟s Licence issued by any motor authority that is recognised under the Motor Traffic Act. Driver and co-driver will wear a certified Australian Standard AS1698 crash helmet, while in a moving vehicle during an SS.
5(b). Starting order for the first group of SS‟s will be by ballot.
5(c). Driver and co-driver combination will remain the same for the entire event, alternating between driver and co-driver for any particular SS is allowed unless the Competition Manager specifies otherwise. Where injury or sickness occurs and after approval from the Competition Manager, that person may be changed. Each team is allowed only one change, thereafter a 10 point penalty will be applied for any further changes.
5(d). Driver and co-driver must be seated and secured in the vehicle and have the most forward part of the vehicle aligned with start pegs before the start of an SS. All recovery equipment to be securely stored at start of each SS.
5(e). Timing of the SS will cease when the vehicle (to the rear of front door) has come to a stop in the finish garage (entry into finish garage is to be forward unless directed otherwise) with the driver and co-driver secured in the vehicle. Co-drivers and all equipment must be secured before entering finish garage. D-Shackles, snatch blocks etc must not be secured by feet. Competitors shall not move from the finish garage until directed by an official.
5(f). Competitors must start in their respective ballot or designated order, unless the Competition Manager grants prior permission for a change in the running order. Any vehicle not ready to start at the time the previous vehicle leaves the start shall be deemed a non-starter and a DNS recorded.
5(g). When the DNF time is not achieved by any competitor, points will be awarded from fastest to slowest for those that have completed the SS. If 25% of the competing vehicles in that SS do not complete the SS under the set DNF time due to weather or changes in track conditions the DNF time will be increased by 2 minutes. If after the new DNF time has been set and the 25% is not reached at the completion of the SS, there will be no further increase in DNF time.
5(h). SS‟s can be marked by pegs, bunting, arrows or stated as a formed track.
5(i). Competitors when directed by an official must immediately remove themselves and their vehicle from the course.
5(j). Competitors failing to start 60 seconds after the timing has commenced for the SS will result in a DNS.
5(k). SS‟s will close 10 minutes after the last competing vehicle has finished. Competitors will be given 10 minutes warning prior to the closure of an SS unless the Competition Manager specifies otherwise.
5(l). No alcohol or recreational drugs are to be consumed prior to or during the running of a SS. Random alcohol and/or drug testing may be carried out on drivers and co-drivers at any time throughout the competition.
Competitors who record a positive reading at the start, during or immediately after the day‟s competition WILL be excluded from further competition.
5(m). The Competition Manager reserves the right to modify or add supplementary Rules and Regulations, and decide on matters not specifically covered in the 2010 SSS Winch Series Rules and Regulations and allocate the penalty points at his discretion.
5(n). Stage awards will be calculated on highest points scored after penalties.
5A. Special Stage Penalties
5A(a). When all four wheels of a vehicle cross the boundary of the course the competitor may receive a DNF for that SS.
5A(b). A 10 point penalty will be incurred when:
A vehicle straddles a peg.
A vehicle knocks over a boundary peg (45 degree angle or below from its original position or the peg must be broken).
A vehicle breaks the bunting.
A driver or co-driver holds or moves bunting or pegs to improve vehicle approach or departure line.
Trees are run over or damaged to improve line (this will be at the discretion of the Special Stage Manager or attending official).
Please Note:
That any trees (including blackboys and designated) or markers that are intentionally damaged or knocked over, will result in a DNF being awarded for that SS. The Competition Manager reserves the right to replace the tree with a marker should this happen.
Special designated pegs, bunting or arrows marking a SS if broken, will incur a 30 point penalty.
If a competitor or other equipment (this does not include the vehicle) breaks the bunting or knocks over a peg during winching operations, there will be no penalty provided the damage is repaired prior to entering the finish garage.
5A(c). A 40 point penalty will be incurred if a person or vehicle touches a green bunted peg.
5A(d). Penalties for a driver or co-driver not wearing a seat belt, helmet or riding on the outside of a vehicle are:
First offence: 100 point penalty and a Stage DNF.
Second offence: 200 point penalty and Stage DNF
Third offence: Event Disqualification.
A 20 point penalty will be incurred for either driver or co-driver not having the seat belt on correctly (eg harness loose, shoulder strap loose or off). The vehicle must come to a complete stop before any harness can be removed and exiting the vehicle. All harnesses/helmets must be secure and doors closed before a vehicle attempts any forward/reverse motion.
Note: Competition Manager is to be immediately notified of each safety breach.
5A(e). Teams will DNF if they receive outside assistance.
5A(f). Teams that DNS a SS will incur a 10 point penalty.
5A(g). Failure to attempt a SS without an accepted reason incurs a 100 point penalty.
5A(h). Lost or insecure recovery equipment at the finish of a SS will incur a 10 point penalty per item. This includes winch cable or hook if touching on the ground.
5A(i). Techniques that are deemed to be unsafe shall incur a 10 point penalty. These include:
Jumping over or going under a winch cable while anchored or moving dampener while winching. It is allowed to move in on a tight cable to reposition the cable dampener (the vehicle must be stopped) or to affect repairs to the vehicle.
Walking or Standing behind moving vehicle whilst winching.
Failure to clear an area prior to snatching or winching. You must call in a loud and clear voice “Clear Winching” any time a vehicle is about to commence forward or reverse motion during a recovery.
Continuing to stand in front of vehicle whilst winching, after official warning.
Handling a winch cable or hook with no gloves.
Failing to use a cable dampener during winching or snatching operations.
Failing to use another cable dampener when direction of cable is changed.
Carrying the winch cable into the cabin or tray area of the vehicle.
Carrying winch cable while still attached to anchor point and vehicle in motion.
Winching or snatching a tree out or over.
Continuing any unsafe practice after official warning.
Helmet incorrectly secured whilst in moving vehicle.
Unsecured or partially secured window net in a moving vehicle.
Driving over cable with wheel.
5A(j). Excessive wheel spin (including while vehicle being winched) after being warned by official:
2nd warning: 10 point penalty.
3rd warning: 20 point penalty.
4th warning: 100 point penalty and DNF.
Note: Wheel spin should be relevant to forward motion, at the discretion of the Stage Manager.
5A(k). No driver or co-driver shall engage in abusive, obscene language or improper behaviour toward each other, other competitors, spectators or officials. After an official warning, a minimum penalty of 40 points up to event exclusion.
5A(l). Failure to follow “SS/Course Directions” whether verbal or written, will incur a 15 point penalty.
Please Note:
If a Special Stage official adds to the “comment section” of your score book about a possible rule infringement, it will be treated as a penalty.
It is possible to go into a negative score in any SS.
6. Media Crisis Management
Preface:
The media has a right to report news that they see fit. It is important that anything we do reflects positively on our chosen recreation of off road activities and ensures we are viewed as a responsible organisation.
Potential adverse media or public interest generated by an incident at the event, could threaten the reputation of the event or organisation in the future.
Incident is defined as:
A direct result of event activities.
Affects the safety of any person engaged in event activities.
Exposes any deficiency in safety or environment protection procedures.
General Procedures:
It is the Competition Managers aim to ensure a safe and incident free event. However, with any type of motor sport there is an element of danger and unplanned incidents are not unusual. Any incident has the potential to become a media crisis (eg personal injury, vehicle accident or environmental concerns).
Competitors will not discuss event incidents, or their part in it, with the media until the incident has been reviewed by the Competition Manager and Event Committee. After he has been briefed on all aspects of the crisis, the Competition Manager will issue a statement on the incident and focus attention on the positive steps being taken to resolve the incident.
6A. Rights of Organiser
6A(a). Refuse any entry without giving any reason whatsoever.
6A(b). Abandon, cancel, postpone or shorten the event without due notice in the event of any unforeseen circumstances. No claims whatsoever of any kind shall be entertained due to the abandoning, cancelling, postponement or shortening of the event.
6A(c). Exclude any person or vehicle, which fails to meet the event guidelines as set out in the Event Guide.
6A(d). Cancel any SS at any time including when some competitors have already completed the section for any reason whatsoever.
6A(e). Disqualify any competitor who fails to abide by any rules set out in this Event Guide and any Supplementary Amendments or any instructions from the event officials. If this occurs there will be no refund of entry fee.
6A(f). Obtain any “in vehicle” video footage as required. Video footage cannot be sold without prior approval from SSS Winch Series.
6B. Indemnity
6B(a). SSS Winch Series, Officials, Event Sponsors and Landowners will not be held liable in any accident, causing injury or damage to the participants or their vehicles during the course of the event.
6B(b). SSS Winch Series, Officials, Event Sponsors and Landowners will not be held liable for any breach of any laws or regulations. The participants will be entirely responsible for any accidents or breach of laws in which liability may arise and shall indemnify SSS Winch Series, Officials, Event Sponsors and Landowners by signing the indemnity form.
6B(c). The participants must agree to and sign an indemnity form before the start of the event. Failure to do so renders the participant ineligible to start with no refund of the entry fee.

1. Event Format and Regulating Body
1(a). Special Stages (SS‟s) will be varied with a major emphasis on safety. SS‟s will be designed to test off road driving, navigation, recovery skills and team work.
1(b). The SS results will determine the place getters. Scoring will be a combination of the elapsed time, less any penalties incurred by teams, as specified in the competition rules.
1(c). The Competition Manager will head the Event Committee. The Committee Members will be officials appointed by the Competition Manager.
2. Vehicle Classes and Equipment Check
2(a). Classes : Standard

2(b). Vehicle and all equipment are required to be available at the appointed time. A team representative must be present during these checks.
2(c). Vehicle must be presented in a „ready to start‟ condition including all compulsory equipment.
2(d). Vehicles that fail the inspection process will render the entrant liable for exclusion. A second and final inspection at a later time may be carried out. Vehicles must pass the second process or they may be excluded from starting the event.
Note: It is the competitors‟ responsibility that their competition vehicle complies with the SSS Winch Series „2010 Rules and Regulations‟
3A. General Vehicle Specifications “All Classes”
The event is only open to all road registered roadworthy 4 wheel drive vehicles. All vehicles are or were sold to the general public by the manufacturer. Prototype vehicles are not allowed.
3A1. Compulsory Equipment
3A1(a). Vehicles shall carry one 1.8kg or two .9kg operable dry powder fire extinguishers, mounted securely and within easy reach of the driver and co-driver. Minimum standard AS1841.5.
3A1(b). Jack, wheel brace and spare tyre assembly.
3A1(c). Recovery Kit (minimum):
Snatch strap
2 x 8000kg tree trunk protector (minimum width 75mm)
2 x Snatch block
2 pair finger enclosed leather or material gloves
All shackles to be rated at 3.25 or better or double ended hooks must be rated 3.25 or better
2 x 1kg (dry weight) cable dampeners (500mm x 900mm recommended size)
Winch extension
Ground anchor
All recovery equipment to be stored at the start of each SS.
3A1(d). A comprehensive „First Aid Kit‟. An approved sticker/sign placed externally shall indicate its position on board. Sticker must be no more than 1m from kit.
3A1(e). Waffle boards/bridging ladders are recommended.
3A1(f). 2 x torches or headlamps
3A1(g). 10L minimum of drinking water. Can be camelbaks, water bottles etc.
3A1(h). Helmets for driver and co-driver.
3A2. Communications Equipment
3A2(a). Competition vehicles must be fitted with a UHF (477 MHz) radio and must be tuned to the competition channel (UHF #11) at all times. It is the competitors responsibility to listen to the competition channel at all times, from drivers briefing at the start of the competition to the close of the competition. A 10 point penalty will apply if not adhered to after 1st warning.
3A2(b). During the SS the UHF radio must be tuned to the assigned SS channel.
3A2(c). Use of radios during the SS is allowed.
3A3. Body/Chassis
3A3(a). Full harnesses will be fitted for all occupants, the minimum being a four point full harness, and will comply at least with AS2596, E35, SF116.1, FIA Standard 8853 or 8854, 8853/98 or 8854/98 or European Standard ECE R-16. The full harness must not be frayed, torn or damaged in any way.
In all cases of mounting the following must be observed:
Floor mounting points must be reinforced with a 3mm steel plate of at least 75mm x 50mm on the underside of the body.
Full harness rear mounting point or points must be to a substantial part of the vehicles structure, reinforced as may be appropriate or to the roll cage. Or reinforced as above if through body bolts are used.
Where possible, the full harness will be approved and plated by Transport Department or Engineer in state of registration. A Statutory Declaration signed by the owner stating that the mounting complies with SSS Winch Series Rules & Regulations and that they take full responsibility for installation of the full harness into the vehicle, is also required.
3A3(b). Original chassis must remain but can be modified/strengthened. Tube chassis are not allowed.
3A3(c). A recovery point (painted red) is required for both the front and rear of the vehicle and if mounted to the chassis a minimum of two 12mm, or four 10mm, Grade 8 (or equivalent) high tensile bolts be used. Minimum recovery point is a rated lifting lug (1.4T) with a 19mm thread.
3A3(d). Items carried in the vehicle must be secured adequately while the vehicle is in motion.
3A3(e). Vehicles must be fitted with a full internal roll cage starting at the „A‟ pillar. Wagons to be a 6 point and utilities a 4 point with a recommendation that 2 forward braces from the main („B‟ pillar) hoop to the floor be fitted.
1. Tubing used in manufacture of hoops and bracing shall be round section cold drawn steel tube CDS, CDW or CEW and comply with the requirements of AS1163 1981 or better, „Circular and Non-Circular Steel Tubes for Mechanical and General Engineering Purposes‟.
Minimum sizes:
Main hoop „B‟ pillar 45mm diameter Wall 2.5mm.
Straight braces 38mm diameter Wall 2.5mm.
Bent braces „A‟ pillar 38mm diameter Wall 2.5mm
2. Roll cage structure must not obstruct front seat access nor encroach upon the area occupied by driver and co-driver.
3. Main hoop „B‟ pillar must be a maximum 150mm behind the driver and co-drivers head. It is recommended that 2 diagonal braces in the plane of the main „B‟ pillar hoop be fitted. The „A‟ pillar and „B‟ pillar hoops and all other tube work to be placed as close as near possible to the roof in order to limit crushing in the event of a roll over. The forward tube work from main hoop „B‟ pillar to „A‟ pillar hoop should be placed adjacent to and horizontal with the door frame as close as possible to the roof in order to limit crushing in the event of a roll over.
4. The right and left hand tube work must be mounted in such a manner that it does not obscure the driver‟s vision past the „A‟ pillar and doorframe combined.
5. Mountings will comprise of an upper mounting plate attached to the roll cage and a lower mounting plate, sandwiching a section of the vehicles structure between them. The following requirements outline minimum sizes for mounting plates. Smaller width plates minimum 45mm wide may be used provided that the overall area is not reduced.
Mounting plates to be steel 100x100x6mm for vehicles over 1150kg and 100x75x6mm for vehicles under 1150kg. The lower mounting plates must be at least 100x45x6mm. At least two 10mm Grade 8.8 high tensile bolts are required at each mounting point.
6. Where roll cage mounting bolts pass through a hollow section of the vehicles structure, the section must be locally reinforced to prevent crushing.
7. Continuous lengths of tubing will be used for all braces and main hoops, with smooth continuous bends and no evidence of crimping, wall failure or significant section weakening. All welds will be full penetration butt welds. All other types of joins will be done to accepted engineering and competition standards.
8. Upper sections of the roll cage or bracing (where they may contact occupants) must be fully protected with high-density foam or equivalent, of at least 15mm thickness. Hollow cylindrical pipe insulation may be utilised for this purpose.
9. In open top vehicles, the driver and co-driver profiles, including shoulders, must be within the main hoop viewed from the front of the vehicle. All open top vehicles will have a solid cover fitted over driver and co-driver head area of 3mm alloy or 1.6mm steel.
Where possible, roll cage must be approved and plated by Transport Department or Engineer in state of registration. A Statutory Declaration signed by the owner stating that the manufacture and installation complies with SSS Winch Series Rules & Regulations and that they take full responsibility for the manufacture and installation of roll cage into vehicle, is also required.
3A3(f). Doors and window nets must be fitted to all vehicles. The window net must cover 70% of the window opening. The net shall be made of a non-flammable (nylon webbing) material with mesh size no greater than 50mm, fitted to the drivers and co-drivers doors or roll over protection structure above the drivers‟ and co-drivers‟ windows. It must be secured in such a way that it can be removed at any time from both inside and outside the vehicle with the door closed. (Nets secured with zip ties are not allowed).
Note: All nets will be tested at scrutineering before competition. Nets must be able to be removed within 5-10 seconds from inside the vehicle.
3A3(g). Wagons, dual cabs or well back utes must have a metal cargo barrier fitted behind the driver and co-driver seats, immediately behind the roll cage.
3A4. Fuel Systems
The Competition Manager reserves the right to reject any fuel tank that is deemed to be unsafe.
3A5. Steering/Suspension
Rear wheel steering is not allowed.
3A6. Driveline
All vehicles must have an operable handbrake.
3A7. Wheels and Tyres
3A7(a). Agricultural tyres and wheel chains of any type are prohibited.
3A7(b). Wheel spacers are not allowed.
3A8. Electrical System
3A8(a). A mechanical battery isolation switch is to be fitted to the battery or batteries providing power to the competing vehicles electrics. This is to be placed within reach of driver and co-driver whilst secured in vehicle. (The winch circuit is exempted).
3A8(b). External power sources/invertors are not allowed.
3A9. Winch
3A9(a). Winches must be fitted with an operational automatic brake. If the automatic brake is damaged during a SS it must be replaced/repaired before any more SS‟s are attempted.
3A9(b). Winch cable must be in a serviceable condition.
3A9(c). Winch cable hooks must have a working safety catch (no open hooks) for all SS‟s. If a safety catch is damaged during a SS, it must be repaired or replaced before attempting any more SS‟s.
3A9(d). Winch cables shall be of high tensile steel compatible to your winches rating. Mild steel cables with a hemp centre are not allowed.
Synthetic rope is allowed, but it is the owner‟s responsibility that the synthetic rope is rated the same or better than the standard cable used on the vehicles winches.
3A9(e). Steel cables will have professionally swaged loops. Synthetic rope will be spliced. Steel cables may be temporarily repaired on a stage but must be replaced or professionally repaired before attempting the next SS.
3A9(f). Winch cables are to be fully spooled at the start of each SS.
3A9(g). Winch cable is allowed to be wrapped at the finish of an SS. The protruding “horns” must not be pointy and be made of material with a minimum diameter of 15mm and have a radius of 50mm, length and distance apart is optional.
3A9(h). Rigging will be done to the safe working capacity of the equipment.
3A9(i). Cable dampener is to be placed in centre third of winch cable at start of winching. The dampener must not be rolled or permanently stored/attached on the cable/strap.
3A9(j). If roller fairleads are being used they must be in a serviceable condition before the start of any stage.
3A10. Exhausts
Exhausts must protrude behind the cab no less than 300mm on utes and must be in the standard position for wagons.
3A11. Cameras
3A11(a). Reversing camera‟s and winch camera‟s are allowed.
3A11(b). Camera‟s for in car footage are allowed.
3A11(c). Any camera that assists with negotiating obstacles under the vehicle are not allowed.
3A12. Advertising
Competitors are allowed to fix any kind of advertising to their vehicles provided that:
3A12(a). It is not offensive.
3A12(b). They do not encroach into areas reserved for event sponsors, competition numbers and event decals, namely the front doors. (Maximum sized area required for the competition number and event decals is 600mm x 400mm).
3A12(c). Event decals shall be fitted to reserved areas when supplied.
3C. General Vehicle Specifications “Modified Class”
3C1. Wheels and Tyres (No. 3A7 General Vehicle Specifications All Classes)
Tyre combination: 940mmx370mm (37” or smaller).
(These measurements are horizontal measurements with tyre pressure at 24psi). Wheel and tyre combinations can protrude past the vehicle body but such protrusions must be covered by flare material.
4. General Event Regulations
4(a). The Special Stage Manager will be in charge of any recovery operations during SS‟s by either controlling the recovery personally or nominating an official as the Recovery Leader. In the interest of safety, all competitors must abide by the Recovery Leader‟s instructions. Only one Recovery Leader will be nominated for any situation.
4(b). Controlled Winch Area – Gate:
The vehicle must come to a complete stop in a “Controlled Area” before the gate can be opened. The only exception to this rule is if the vehicle is already being winched into the area, in which case the gate can be opened prior to the vehicle entering. If gate is pre-opened under any other conditions a 20 point penalty will apply. A “Did Not Finish” (DNF) will be awarded if vehicle does not stop.
4(c). The vehicle will have only one attempt to drive out of the “Controlled Area”. If forward momentum is not achieved you then must commence recovery.
4(d). When 2 wheels roll out of the “Controlled Area”, you then must commence recovery.
4(e). When 2 wheels enter a “Controlled Area” you are deemed to have entered the area and must winch/recover through the gate.
4(f). When punches are used in a SS, the card must be punched prior to entering the finish garage or crossing the finish line. Missed punches not recorded on the card, cards or punches removed from their attachment point will incur a DNF for that SS.
4(g). When vehicle has lost forward momentum on entering an obstacle or slope, winching/recovery must commence without further attempts at driving. A 20 point penalty will apply if a second attempt is made.
4A. Parts/Groups
4A(a). Breakdowns and repairs must be completed in the field or in the designated pit. Failure to notify the Competition Manager or designated official of intent to remove competition vehicle from these areas for repair will incur a 50 point penalty. An ETA (estimated time of arrival from outside areas) WILL be required and failure to meet this will incur a 50 point penalty. In addition, if competitors leave parts (including broken & new), rubbish, rags etc they will incur a 50 point penalty if not removed by end of the day the SS was completed.
Note: Fellow competitors are allowed and encouraged to assist with repairs and loan tools.
4A(b). When all competitors in your group have completed the SS the group will then be allowed to leave the SS area to move to the next SS.
Note: All competitors must remain within the competition area until ALL groups have finished before being directed back to base by the Competition Manager.
4A(c). When a competitor “Hold” area has been designated, you MUST stop and wait with the vehicle until directed to move to the next SS.
4A(d). Groups will stay together unless directed by the Competition Manager. A 20 point penalty will apply to any infringements of rules 4A(b) & (c).
4B. Scoring and Awards
4B(a). Teams that DNF and pass the marker will receive 20 points. Teams that fail to reach SS marker will receive zero points.
Teams that complete the SS will be allocated points in order of merit from fastest to slowest as follows:

4B(b). Timing will be scored to the 10th of a second.
4B(c). If 2 or more competitors finish a SS with the same elapsed time, they shall be awarded equal points and placing in the SS. The competitor with the next fastest time shall be placed according to their own finishing positioning in that SS. The placing left vacant due to the tie will not be allocated.
4B(d). In the case of a tied score in Major Awards, the winner will be decided by a count back. The winner being the one with the least amount of penalties incurred. If this fails to break the tie, total time of all SS‟s will be used. The fastest time will win.
4B(e). Competitor and Special Awards will only be given to those in attendance at presentation.
4C. Protest
4C(a). Protests by a competitor must be on a “SSS Winch Series Protest Form” and handed to the Competition Manager within 2 hours of receiving the scores for the particular SS. Vehicle related protests by another competitor must be in before the start of 2nd day of competition. All protests must be submitted with $200.00, which shall be forfeited if the protest is dismissed.
4C(b). Members of the Event Committee will be required to judge on any formal protest and must have a 2/3rd majority for the protest to be upheld.
4C(c). A selected representative (previously elected driver or co-driver) from the event competitors will be allowed to sit in on the protest proceedings if desired.
4D. Prohibited Behaviour
4D(a). No competitor will seek favour from, influence, manipulate, obstruct or interfere with the duties of any member of the Competition Committee. Any competitor found doing so will be immediately disqualified for the current event.
4D(b). No competitor will interfere or tamper with any other competitor‟s vehicle. Any competitor found doing so will be immediately disqualified for the Series.
4D(c). Any competitor who approaches an official and queries them about another competitors stage results and/or penalties will incur a 100 point penalty.
4E. Sportsmanship
The goal of the SSS Winch Series is to promote a respectable sport and promote sponsors in a professional light. During all SSS Winch Series Events appropriate sportsmanship is expected.
Any unsportsmanlike behaviour and conduct will not be tolerated. If a competitor or team member (including supporters etc) promotes unsportsmanlike conduct, is rude or abusive to officials, landowners, fellow competitors, local authorities, sponsors, destroys property, displays drunken or disrespectful behaviour, they and/or the entire team may be disqualified from the current event and/or future events.
4F. Environment
4F(a). Campsites, assembly, holding and work areas, are to be left clean. Parts (new or broken), rubbish, rags etc will incur a 50 point penalty.
4F(b). Failure to use a tree protector during winching operations may result in a DNF being recorded for the SS.
4F(c). Blackboys are not to be touched, winched off or removed. This will incur an automatic DNF. Blackboys are protected and carry a penalty by law.
4F(d). Any vehicle leaking other than water may be excluded from competition until repairs are effected.
5. Regulations for Special Stages (SS‟s)
5(a). Driver and co-driver are the only persons allowed in the competing vehicle during an SS. Co-drivers can compete if they turn 15 years of age in the racing year (eg before 31 December of relevant year). The driver must have a current Driver‟s Licence issued by any motor authority that is recognised under the Motor Traffic Act. Driver and co-driver will wear a certified Australian Standard AS1698 crash helmet, while in a moving vehicle during an SS.
5(b). Starting order for the first group of SS‟s will be by ballot.
5(c). Driver and co-driver combination will remain the same for the entire event, alternating between driver and co-driver for any particular SS is allowed unless the Competition Manager specifies otherwise. Where injury or sickness occurs and after approval from the Competition Manager, that person may be changed. Each team is allowed only one change, thereafter a 10 point penalty will be applied for any further changes.
5(d). Driver and co-driver must be seated and secured in the vehicle and have the most forward part of the vehicle aligned with start pegs before the start of an SS. All recovery equipment to be securely stored at start of each SS.
5(e). Timing of the SS will cease when the vehicle (to the rear of front door) has come to a stop in the finish garage (entry into finish garage is to be forward unless directed otherwise) with the driver and co-driver secured in the vehicle. Co-drivers and all equipment must be secured before entering finish garage. D-Shackles, snatch blocks etc must not be secured by feet. Competitors shall not move from the finish garage until directed by an official.
5(f). Competitors must start in their respective ballot or designated order, unless the Competition Manager grants prior permission for a change in the running order. Any vehicle not ready to start at the time the previous vehicle leaves the start shall be deemed a non-starter and a DNS recorded.
5(g). When the DNF time is not achieved by any competitor, points will be awarded from fastest to slowest for those that have completed the SS. If 25% of the competing vehicles in that SS do not complete the SS under the set DNF time due to weather or changes in track conditions the DNF time will be increased by 2 minutes. If after the new DNF time has been set and the 25% is not reached at the completion of the SS, there will be no further increase in DNF time.
5(h). SS‟s can be marked by pegs, bunting, arrows or stated as a formed track.
5(i). Competitors when directed by an official must immediately remove themselves and their vehicle from the course.
5(j). Competitors failing to start 60 seconds after the timing has commenced for the SS will result in a DNS.
5(k). SS‟s will close 10 minutes after the last competing vehicle has finished. Competitors will be given 10 minutes warning prior to the closure of an SS unless the Competition Manager specifies otherwise.
5(l). No alcohol or recreational drugs are to be consumed prior to or during the running of a SS. Random alcohol and/or drug testing may be carried out on drivers and co-drivers at any time throughout the competition.
Competitors who record a positive reading at the start, during or immediately after the day‟s competition WILL be excluded from further competition.
5(m). The Competition Manager reserves the right to modify or add supplementary Rules and Regulations, and decide on matters not specifically covered in the 2010 SSS Winch Series Rules and Regulations and allocate the penalty points at his discretion.
5(n). Stage awards will be calculated on highest points scored after penalties.
5A. Special Stage Penalties
5A(a). When all four wheels of a vehicle cross the boundary of the course the competitor may receive a DNF for that SS.
5A(b). A 10 point penalty will be incurred when:
A vehicle straddles a peg.
A vehicle knocks over a boundary peg (45 degree angle or below from its original position or the peg must be broken).
A vehicle breaks the bunting.
A driver or co-driver holds or moves bunting or pegs to improve vehicle approach or departure line.
Trees are run over or damaged to improve line (this will be at the discretion of the Special Stage Manager or attending official).
Please Note:
That any trees (including blackboys and designated) or markers that are intentionally damaged or knocked over, will result in a DNF being awarded for that SS. The Competition Manager reserves the right to replace the tree with a marker should this happen.
Special designated pegs, bunting or arrows marking a SS if broken, will incur a 30 point penalty.
If a competitor or other equipment (this does not include the vehicle) breaks the bunting or knocks over a peg during winching operations, there will be no penalty provided the damage is repaired prior to entering the finish garage.
5A(c). A 40 point penalty will be incurred if a person or vehicle touches a green bunted peg.
5A(d). Penalties for a driver or co-driver not wearing a seat belt, helmet or riding on the outside of a vehicle are:
First offence: 100 point penalty and a Stage DNF.
Second offence: 200 point penalty and Stage DNF
Third offence: Event Disqualification.
A 20 point penalty will be incurred for either driver or co-driver not having the seat belt on correctly (eg harness loose, shoulder strap loose or off). The vehicle must come to a complete stop before any harness can be removed and exiting the vehicle. All harnesses/helmets must be secure and doors closed before a vehicle attempts any forward/reverse motion.
Note: Competition Manager is to be immediately notified of each safety breach.
5A(e). Teams will DNF if they receive outside assistance.
5A(f). Teams that DNS a SS will incur a 10 point penalty.
5A(g). Failure to attempt a SS without an accepted reason incurs a 100 point penalty.
5A(h). Lost or insecure recovery equipment at the finish of a SS will incur a 10 point penalty per item. This includes winch cable or hook if touching on the ground.
5A(i). Techniques that are deemed to be unsafe shall incur a 10 point penalty. These include:
Jumping over or going under a winch cable while anchored or moving dampener while winching. It is allowed to move in on a tight cable to reposition the cable dampener (the vehicle must be stopped) or to affect repairs to the vehicle.
Walking or Standing behind moving vehicle whilst winching.
Failure to clear an area prior to snatching or winching. You must call in a loud and clear voice “Clear Winching” any time a vehicle is about to commence forward or reverse motion during a recovery.
Continuing to stand in front of vehicle whilst winching, after official warning.
Handling a winch cable or hook with no gloves.
Failing to use a cable dampener during winching or snatching operations.
Failing to use another cable dampener when direction of cable is changed.
Carrying the winch cable into the cabin or tray area of the vehicle.
Carrying winch cable while still attached to anchor point and vehicle in motion.
Winching or snatching a tree out or over.
Continuing any unsafe practice after official warning.
Helmet incorrectly secured whilst in moving vehicle.
Unsecured or partially secured window net in a moving vehicle.
Driving over cable with wheel.
5A(j). Excessive wheel spin (including while vehicle being winched) after being warned by official:
2nd warning: 10 point penalty.
3rd warning: 20 point penalty.
4th warning: 100 point penalty and DNF.
Note: Wheel spin should be relevant to forward motion, at the discretion of the Stage Manager.
5A(k). No driver or co-driver shall engage in abusive, obscene language or improper behaviour toward each other, other competitors, spectators or officials. After an official warning, a minimum penalty of 40 points up to event exclusion.
5A(l). Failure to follow “SS/Course Directions” whether verbal or written, will incur a 15 point penalty.
Please Note:
If a Special Stage official adds to the “comment section” of your score book about a possible rule infringement, it will be treated as a penalty.
It is possible to go into a negative score in any SS.
6. Media Crisis Management
Preface:
The media has a right to report news that they see fit. It is important that anything we do reflects positively on our chosen recreation of off road activities and ensures we are viewed as a responsible organisation.
Potential adverse media or public interest generated by an incident at the event, could threaten the reputation of the event or organisation in the future.
Incident is defined as:
A direct result of event activities.
Affects the safety of any person engaged in event activities.
Exposes any deficiency in safety or environment protection procedures.
General Procedures:
It is the Competition Managers aim to ensure a safe and incident free event. However, with any type of motor sport there is an element of danger and unplanned incidents are not unusual. Any incident has the potential to become a media crisis (eg personal injury, vehicle accident or environmental concerns).
Competitors will not discuss event incidents, or their part in it, with the media until the incident has been reviewed by the Competition Manager and Event Committee. After he has been briefed on all aspects of the crisis, the Competition Manager will issue a statement on the incident and focus attention on the positive steps being taken to resolve the incident.
6A. Rights of Organiser
6A(a). Refuse any entry without giving any reason whatsoever.
6A(b). Abandon, cancel, postpone or shorten the event without due notice in the event of any unforeseen circumstances. No claims whatsoever of any kind shall be entertained due to the abandoning, cancelling, postponement or shortening of the event.
6A(c). Exclude any person or vehicle, which fails to meet the event guidelines as set out in the Event Guide.
6A(d). Cancel any SS at any time including when some competitors have already completed the section for any reason whatsoever.
6A(e). Disqualify any competitor who fails to abide by any rules set out in this Event Guide and any Supplementary Amendments or any instructions from the event officials. If this occurs there will be no refund of entry fee.
6A(f). Obtain any “in vehicle” video footage as required. Video footage cannot be sold without prior approval from SSS Winch Series.
6B. Indemnity
6B(a). SSS Winch Series, Officials, Event Sponsors and Landowners will not be held liable in any accident, causing injury or damage to the participants or their vehicles during the course of the event.
6B(b). SSS Winch Series, Officials, Event Sponsors and Landowners will not be held liable for any breach of any laws or regulations. The participants will be entirely responsible for any accidents or breach of laws in which liability may arise and shall indemnify SSS Winch Series, Officials, Event Sponsors and Landowners by signing the indemnity form.
6B(c). The participants must agree to and sign an indemnity form before the start of the event. Failure to do so renders the participant ineligible to start with no refund of the entry fee.

Just to let you know that I will be leaving for the park late tonight or early tomorrow morning.
Please make sure that you go directly to the house as soon as you arrive to check in.
Camping will be in the usual place, Fig Trees.
Jo will be coming up Friday afternoon so those that haven't lodged their nominations and or paid yet can bring them to the Expo site gate (the usual meeting place) with them at 5:30pm. Scrutineering and drivers briefing will be at 5:30pm at the Expo site.
Creek to coast will also be at the park this weekend.
Look forward to catching up with you all on Friday.

GUT 30 the weekend was far from a dud its people with attitudes like yours the sport does'nt need. Rumours of the event not being family orientated anymore is crap. The weekend seen competitors being able to watch the stages with family instead of sitting in the waiting area to be called up. I'd like to thank Jo and Stirlo,officials,sponsors,fellow competitors and also the crowd with good numbers watching saturday regarding it was a wet weekend.Congratulations also to Kirby and Will the rangie has let you down in a couple of events but it was great to see you guys able to do all stages and take a second on stage 8 i think. Top weekend hope to see everyone at round 2.

not real good on the wording gut30 but why would you think this event would be a DUD i used to compete a couple of years back and now back helping my son compete in winch challenge style events. we participated in the sss event last weekend and i am more than impressed with the event Stirlo JO and all of his helpers put on. It had everything mud rocks sand reverse winch ground anchors mud water slow stuff fast stuff how could it be adud? To sterlo a job well done thank you for helping matt and rob out on the weekend and to all the other competitors thanks for the support you gave to the boys in their first event will definetly be back for the next round regards Gary Wardropper
