front end noise driving me crazy! help please!
have a rather loud and pronounced noise in the front end of my fj62 wagon. cannot detect on the highway almost at all but the slower the speed the louder and closer together the 'krunk' noises occur. Only seems to make these noises when the suspension is flexing. have greased nearly everything and still there. Can feel this noise all through the truck and visibly see the front end 'click' or move slightly when it occurs..
Took the swaybar and the shocks out and still the noise was there. Doesnt make a difference whether steering is at full lock or straight so i guess i can rule out cv's?(noise still present whether hubs are in or out) The noise seems to relate to suspension travel. I have greased the greasable shackles in the front also, no difference.
Tie rod ends seem ok but could probably be better.
Could these noises possibly be the front leaf spring packs loading up and releasing? I am at a loss..
Any help would be muchly appreciated. I am just trying to make sure that it is not something that is going to cause somthing to fall of or cause an accident etc!!

Swaybars are for sooks......
Have you got splash guards around the bottom of the engine bay? I had an annoying banging in my front end, that was worse when 4wding, and driving slowly. I was buggered if I could find it. It was even worse if I was 4wding in reverse.
It turned out to be a drooping splash guard, one mount had fatigued through, and it was just clearing the front end. On suspension compression, the guard would hit the axle, and make a racket.

Mud makes excellent toothpaste.
Know nothing about FJ62's.... but one of my vehicles had a annoying clunk that turned out to be the pads loose in the calipers - previous "brain surgeon decided" the locating spring clips weren't needed and it rattled off road.
Took a long time to find.........

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.
