how to find out the year of my td42

bought a wagon wreck with a td42, but the motor is a later model motor which i am rebuilding and i cannot find what year it is, have been through vic roads, nissan head office with the engine number and they cant tell me what year it is, is there any specs that will tell me wat year it is? gudgeon pin size? crank nut size?
85 hi top drover, 31s, 2 inch exended shackles 2 inch bl.
88 tb42 swb mav,35 claws, 4 inch lift

think there is something about bigger crank nut on pre-92.. cant be sure tho. its on outers posts somewhere in the past....prob under a post about 'which year td42 is better, or silver or black tops, ....'

hopefully someone who knows chips, until then google or search outers.

td42t has the bigger crank nut. Early TD42 (silver top) had thicker rods then the end 1993 on "black tops". I can't tell you the rod size difference though.

mine has the date on the front passenger side of the motor, somewhere near the rocker cover, stamped onto a plate.
