Fitting 33 MTR's SPUA
Fitting 33 MTR's SPUA
I may be getting hold of a really cheap set of 33 inch MTR’s.
What will have to be done to make them fit?
I’m currently running STOCK suspension.(1985 NT)
I wish to stay SPUA if possible (don’t start the SPOA vs SPUA, you have all been warned)
If I stay SPUA with RUF, how much of the guards will I have to cut to make them fit, and what sort of offset will I have to run on my rims so that they won’t rub?
I assume that fitting 33 MTR’s will be very similar to 34 swampers, but does anyone think that there will be any surprises because they are slightly wider?

I have 31inch simex on my stock SWB NT zook. they measure to 32 inch and I have stock front springs, moved the diff forward an inch on the perches, and basically just cut the guards to suit, the inner basically needs to be removed or lifted and cut all the way to the headlight. the front was tricky, the rear is easier, I basically just cut the seam out of the rear, although I am going to hilux rears or similar so I ma going to continue to cut to accomodate the extra flex.
I have wide track diffs and this stops me from hitting the srings.
I'm happy with my setup so I don't want anyone getting upset either and blabbing about SPOA, which is good, but I want a low car. go figure?

The guys running 34's generally run 2.5" raised springs ruf, 2" extended shakles, 2" body lift, and the off set is 2.5" backspacing. And from what I can tell just a little trimming dutys behind the headlight.
Hope this helps

i think that i'll just do a 2 or 3 inch body lift and a lot of cutting to make them fit until i can work out exactly what i want to do with my suspension. I can always get another body latter it if i end up cutting a little to much away. I may end up waiting until after Berridale before doing my suspension so that i can have a really good look at both the spoa and spua camps and hopefully make some decision as to what is the better setup for me.
N*A*M or anyone else who feels inclined to answer how do i adjust the steering stops?

solution get some good HT high grade bolts
i've actually gone back to a short bolt but using a big rubber bush on the end. these "special" bushes are found on the rear gate. some longer ones are found under the hood.
