Just got an email from tuffevents with the following quoted:

"All orders with 4 or more tickets will be sent via Post, 1-3 quantities will be available for collection at the gate.
At the gate you will require a copy of your online order & some ID for collection."

I thought one of the idea's of buying tickets online was to eliminate the whole waiting in line at the gate?? I've actually bought 3 tickets in total(my ticket and 2 others for my mates), but we'll all be arriving at different times in different vehicles. How are they meant to "show ID" to get their tickets when it's under my name??

Wasn't sure how long it'll be for a response to the reply email I sent back so maybe Tony you can shed some light on this??
When in doubt..... UTE-ERIZE it!!!

So I won't get my two tickets in the mail, I'll have to wait and pick them up when I get there? If I had known this when the tickets went on sale, I would have pooled together with a few mates so we wouldn't have to wait in line.

Then again, I did "the right thing" last year and pre-bought tickets. We still spent the better half of our morning parked in the queue on the side of the road.

You will have to sort it out with Pete and the Site Managers as we only handle the comp side.
PS. did you send an email to me or Steve as I'm in the dark regarding the issue.

Hey guys I noticed that someone last year had a lawn mower with airbags so after we left last year we built one with a draw through turbo setup. We were only gonna use it to tow a small trailer with our esky and gazebo down to the events. We even went so far as to take the deck off so its not dangerous. One of my mates just told me that he saw no motorised vehicles in the rules. Is that new this year? We come down from Bris so don't want to drag it down there any find out its gonna get canned. Do you reckon its gonna be cool or just flag it? Seems a shame, makes boost and everything.

Miss Forby,
There is no way to prevent the traffic jam outside of the event.
Name any large event where there are no delays in getting into it.
When there are so many people attending, & we have the restrictions that are out of our control, it is difficult to speed up the process.
We will have the lanes as per normal, possibly an additional.
But we have no jurisdiction until you turn off Welshs Rd (dirt rd) into our entry lanes.

Vehicle searches will be performed by security looking for All prohibited items, such as Glass & excessive alcohol on entry once in the entry lanes, so in order to make this a safer event unfortunately there will be delays, but I will assure you I will have an excessive amount of reliable staff on hand ready to attack any additional issues that do arise.

If you'd like to enter faster, then best you book a Helicopter.

So where can I land?

I understand you cannot control traffic jams, but surely something can be done for prepaid tickets.

Three things so far that have struck me (Please keep in mind I'm not knocking the work you guys have done, I understand it's your first crack at this event, so maybe these are things you can keep in mind for future TTC's)
1) When tickets went on sale, the conditions of entry were not available. I just took another look at the website, the motorised "thingy" (lol) rule as well as the no glass rule are there but that seems to be it.
2) When tickets first went on sale, we were told that you could only buy weekend passes in advance, and they would not be available at the gate. Now, "consecutive day passes" will be available at the gate. Albeit, at a much higher price, but they are still availble.
3) When tickets were purchased, we were told tickets would be posted to us, now they won't be. I know it's not a huge deal, but it's still something that I personally see as a minus. Now I think about it, I still haven't got the email the others have posted. Whats the reason they won't be posted?

I would offer to give you guys a hand, but unfortunately I can't get my butt up there any earlier than Friday.

Pete,
You're a legend mate & a big  for the work you do!!
Very happy to speak with you and after the conversation we had, I can now fully understand where you're coming from and also the reasons behind the way everything is being handled in the fashion you described.
I'm not going to go into it for sake of starting another online debate, but please bare with it folks. He and his team are firing on all cylinders to keep this as cost effective and efficient as possible for us all to attend.

Looking forward to it. Just got to get me a new tent now after I killed the last one!!

Hi Bowie,

We are sorry but please refer to Tuff Truck website under menu option Event info http://www.tufftruck.com.au/eventinfo.html- No Quad bikes motorised anything are to be brought to Tuff Truck. It is essentially a safety reason. Yes in previous years people have brought motorised things eg eskies etc, but there is no esky competition this year so no one can argue that reason for bringing any motorised eskies, also last year I can't count on my hands, the amount of times I witnessed near misses and drunken idiots getting around on their motorised whatevers , unfortunately my hands were tied as far as stopping and confiscating such things. We as a team do not want to have on our consciences, a child (or anyone for that matter) being severly hurt or even killed because we allowed such things as motorised ride on esky set ups where the driver was either too drunk to see or stop or plain just not doing the right thing. Please do not bring such contrivances - they will be confiscated :?
I'm sure your turboed lawn mower set up would be something to see, but please - don't bring it.
Also you mentioned about having a gazebo, this would also be a no no, as you will potentially block other patrons' view of proceedings - wear a broad rimmed hat, a good T-shirt (preferably a Tuff Truck one :D :D ) and plenty of sunscreen should be the key.
For everyone, we do have to spectator courtsey buses crusing through the event site picking up and dropping off spectators if you need to get your eskys to stage areas!!!!

I can assure you that for those concerned the "Pickup at the gate" won't hold up progress of entry, non complying spectators will hold the process up.

I will have officials walking down the entry lanes handing out tickets before you even get to the entry gate.

You will most probably get your tickets before you even get to the Gate where show bags & wrist bands are handed out. (as per previous years)

Reply to your "things that struck you"

#1) Conditions of entry have always been on the website, We are entitled to add changes at anytime. especially due to safety reasons.

#2) No Weekend Passes are available at the gate. Nothing more was said in relation to day passes.. Why is it such a big deal to offer consecutive day passes, & yes it will cost you more! Day passes have ALWAYS been available at the gate!!

#3) I am sorry for the error with the posting issue, but it was an issue with the online shop ( which we do not host, until now ) stating that send via "Australia Post" option "$0.00"
Now since when does Aust Post do anything for free? I have now amended the site

Please be ensured that we are making every effort to make this event even greater.

This is not our first crack at it, The event has been running since 2001.

I am merely providing substantial resources to stage the event (along with some new ideas, which seem to be highly accepted by the public) & I still have the continued support of the entire crew that have been running this awesome event for many years.

Hope this clarifies your concerns. & I welcome feed back. (possibly best to pm)

Regards
Pete Antunac

Top work to Pete and the organisers, i think it will be a much more freindly event with the new rules in place, more then worth the extra money on ticket entry.
Looking forward to a good event

I am a little disappointed that my tickets wont be posted out to me as was advertised when I bought them.........

However, I am having a bit of a road trip the week before tuff truck with the family, and my boys will have their push bikes with us (they are 5 & 3 so we're only talking little bikes here)
I understand that they wont be able to ride on site, but if they aren't even allowed on site then I need to sort something out.

Hi All,

To give some clarification on this raised issue:

We had to put above on the website as too many people were ASSUMING that they would not be able to come to Tuff Truck if they turned up at the gate as per previous years and be able to pay and come in. Nowhere have we stated that you couldn't come in and stay for the weekend. We are just not selling a "Weekend Pass" at the gate this year. People will have to pay the day entry rates for each day. As Miss Forby quoted
"the typical adult will be paying $130 for weekend entry as opposed to $95 (?) prepaid."
Thats $130 per/adult = Friday, Saturday & Sunday entry and camping.

We are trying to eliminate the queue holdups associated with paying at the gate as well as keeping our gate staff much more secure, so in this we are 'educating you'. Also we want to try and control numbers on to the site and eliminate 'problem people/groups'.
And lastly, with how things are operated these days, should you want to go to a concert etc you can only order tickets basically online!!!!! we are keeping up with that ideal in mind.

Cheers,

Jo

Hi guys i understand what you guys are saying but when i read stuff like this in extreme mag it's hard to see where you don't give the impression you can't camp the weekend on three consecutive days unless you buy from the website.
Extrat from article written word for word
The organisers have massively increased the security budget this year, with extra security, police presence, limits on alcohol and a CAP ON WEEKEND PASSES.

Evan better for familys is the fact that kids under 12 will get in for free! If you want to camp at the event, you will need to get in early- the number of weekend passes is limited and they'll be sold through wwwtufftruck.com.au. Only day passee will be available at the gate.
The way this reads to me is to camp you have to have a weekend pass and it does not state that you can not come for three days but does state that you can't camp without weekend pass and have to pre purchase that.

I can appreciate how this can be mis-interpreted.
However, i did not write the article in Extreme 4x4 Mag. They did, & by the delay in there magazine production did not allow for any changes to the errors that have surfaced.
In the Ad that I had designed, it is more accurate, & always refers to the website.
The weekend pass tickets are still limited.
No where has Tuff Events advertised that tickets will not be available at the gate. Weekend passes will not be.
Therefore it will cost you a little more as you'll have to buy multiple day passes. It does not state anywhere that you can't camp, It is just your interpretation of what you have read.

eg, on the website where tickets are purchased, it clearly was written that tickets would not be posted out until 2-3 weeks before the event. I have had over 200 emails from people asking why that hadn't received there tickets.
Some people only read what they want to read & mis-interpret.

I've had many emails from people asking me why tickets will not be sold at the gate? Yet this has never been the case, its just incorrect information being thrown around.

I apoligise for these mis-interpretations & will do my best to make it much clearer next year.

Pete

Thanks for the reply peter, just showing you where i think a bit of the confusion came from. I also see why you should not post tickets as you do the math on postage and the figure can make or break a profit for the event, IMO a reciept of purchase with purchase number is as much of a ticket then a ticket itself. (which you print after buy off website)
Hope all goes well for you pete as i know the strains of organising a event of this size isn't easy so bring on tuff truck and c yah there.

UPDATE ON ALCOHOL RESTRICTIONS

Alcohol Restrictions Apply: For spectators entering the site on Friday, Maximum of 2 cases of Beer or Mixed Spirits per adult is allowed. If your entering the site on Saturday from 1am, Only 1 case per adult is allowed. Remember to be sensible about the amount you bring as it will be confiscated at the gate & not returned. We reserve the right to refuse entry of any person wishing to abuse these restrictions. Don't get any smart ideas thinking that you will be allowed to exit the grounds to return with more alcohol, we will have security on the exit gate monitoring all vehicle movements.

THis is from our website and as promised - updates will also appear here.

So no kegs?? This is a serious question, not trying to be a smartass. A keg of homebrew is about 2 cases worth of longnecks, about the same as two cases of stubbies.

So you are saying that a long neck is the same size as a stubby?

I,m glad I only have to write the rules for the competitors

NO

About double the size.

A case of longnecks consists of 12 bottles, so is about the same size as a case of 24 stubbies. I will buy beer instead with the money I was going to purchase a TT jersey with.
