Hi All
My name is José Manuel I am new on the list. I send everyone
greetings from the other side of the world, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. You are probably wondering what am I doing in this list. Well, I am the owner of an Mitsubishi L200 4x4 HPE 2003 that for you guys is basically a Mitsubishi Triton old shape. Here up to the end of 2003 Mitsubishi was selling the old model as new and only for this year they have upgraded the model to the new shape. My L200 came with a 2.5l diesel engine with Turbo and intercooler which yields 118cv at 4200 rpms and 30.6kgfm. of torque at 2000 RPMs.
The reason for me joining the list is that finding information on
possible upgrades and modifications is very hard to come by here in
Brasil and as I have verified info on this truck is hard to find
world wide, and up to know this list, the South African list and its club site have been the best places to find such info.
I am looking to upgrade my tires it currently has 15x7 rims and 255/75R15 Pirelli Scorpion AT this is the stock configuration. I wish to put a set of Wrangler MTRs I do quite a lot of off roading. I kindly ask you guys If I can fit on this ute a set of 32's by just cranking up the torsion bars. I have researched the archives of the list but the info I found was not conclusive. From the actual configuration I have my doubts if they will fit with out scraping some where, and I am sure by the info found on the list that the 31s will fit with out a problem.
I have attached a couple of pics to show everyone how this ute is been sold in Brazil, the is the top of the line model and HPE stands for High Performance Equipment, and the pretty girl is my daughter Ariana.
By the way I anyone plans to come over to this corner of the world I
will be glad to help you out in what ever I can...

Welcome to the board Jose, we have members from Spain, Germany and the US here so now we have one from Brazil.
I'm pretty sure 32"s will go on your Triton as is but some of the other Triton guys could answer your question better than I.
It's interesting to see the different models around the world we had the same model here but it was only turboed (not intercooled) and it didn't have the front like yours. In 96 the new model came out with 24 valve 3.0 V6 and 2.8 diesel, only last year did we get the 2.8TDI. The newer shape also has a factory 30mm body lift over the old model.
I'm pretty sure 32"s will go on your Triton as is but some of the other Triton guys could answer your question better than I.

Jose, I have a 1991 2.5td Triton & as I got a set of 15x7 alloys cheap I fitted them with 30x9.5 tyres, same OD as original 205x16 .
They have a fair bit of offset & on left or rh lock they scrape the
mudflap screws/arches & a bit of mud build up would be a real problem
The wider tyres also use more fuel, more drag, & may marginally reduce performance.

Thinking of going somewhere
Ive got a 1999 MK and have 32x11.5x15 on 15x8 alloy rims...
On the back they r fine but like mentioned previously they will probably rub on the front around the mud flap area and on full lock..... A bit of torsion bar adjustment will probably be required too...
Could probably supply some pics if needed...

Scott, I have not made any modifications to the truck so it is basically as it came out of the dealer.
Bitsaissin, Ater your comment about the body lift I got under my truck and it also has body lift I think it is a 30mm also.

By the way this version of the L200 has 2 modes of operation. under normal conditions it has 95cv and 23.5 Kgfm, and by pressing a button on the dash it goes to 118cv and 30.6kgfm. The way Mitsu achieved this is by increasing the pressure at which the turbo works and changing fuel system management.
Additionally this L200/triton is also produced in a competition version ready made for rally for about US$16000.00. Go to Http://www.mitsubishimotors.com.br and go to L200RIII to see some pics in a ddition you can also see what they have done to the front and rear of the new shape L200/Triton.
One more thing, even though I leave in Brazil I am from Venezuela.

I looked at that website Jose and Mitsu Brazil sell some very interesting models.
Factory roll cages, suspension lifts, HD bash plates, ECU chips and other exotic things I didn't know Mitsu sold. I like the gutted interiors no carpets, cloth etc.
What really grabbed my attention was the 5.38 factory diff ratio's for the Gen 3 Pajero TR4 R.
Jose do you know if they are aftermarket or genuine factory 5.38 crownwheel & pinions ?? Very interested to know.............

they have some awesome options!! the tr4r looks like a tricked up IO... some of the features you mentioned frank would be awesome - factory snorkel.etc
do you think any of these parts would be available through japan? jsroot?
