Moving diff breathers ( Diff END !!!!!)

Post by A1 »

With the start of fabbin up the perch plate for my 4 link ive now gotta move my breather as it sits smack inda middle of the housin (KIND OF)..........

Now the Q is any1 that have done have you encountered any dramas by the way of oil blow - by as the onld position has the factory splash plate under the breather tube and im goin to move it to the left side of thehousin just as it slopes down to axle tubes and alas wont have no plate to stop oil splash n shite ...............will i have any probs with doin this mod with no internal baffle plate ..........

And should i upgrade the size of the breather while im at it

I did the same when I had a 4 link, I had no probs with it at all. Just moved the breather and welded it onto the new spot. :D If you are worried about it weld a new splash plate on. :D
Go the A frame.

just use a 3/8" air hose fitting. drill a hole and tap it. put it on the opposite side to the crownwheel. even if it does get a bit of oil slung at it, it won't be enough to fill it.

I was gunna run the breather on the opposite side to wat you have ........Cause i have far more room on that side of the housin due to the offset of the centre 9so this may be a bad idea ...........................due to the splash off the crown wheel ??...........

Since ive now got that platform setup for my axle end of the upper it sits a little more ova than wat yours did and leaves fuk all room it would almost be on the axle tube .........

Cheers

to tell you the truth I can't even remember which side mine is on.. sam put that one there.. with yours, why don't you weld some small tube to the top of the housing over the original hole and extened it through your platform and run the fitting/hose from there? you need a bit of room between the mounts to get the nuts onto the bolts anyways??

I'll give it a go and c if i can afford the room , and the platform doodad  isnt like that it dont extend down to the axle tube will post some pics once i fit it seemed like too much work to do it that way ...besides the way i have it now if i wanted to i could leave the factory mounts on but the main reason ive done it this way is so that i can get it all welded on b4 hand and then remove the original brackets latrer with MR PLASMA

Cheers Wendle your info much appreciated

i recently put new extended breathers on my cruiser and the front breather is far left over axle. so doing that to yours shouldnt be a problem i would think
