89 Hilux Dual Cab tub question

Post by turdle83 »

Hey All, I have searched majority of the way through the forum but could not see what i am looking for.

My question is this... I am in the process of picking up an 89 Dual cab lux 4x4. It is a rough old girl and requires some TLC. The tub on it is ok but the floor of it is rusted to buggery. Basically need another tub.

I want to know what years will bolt straight up. I sort of get the impression from what i have read is that the 89 to early 94 are all but all the same and pre 89 and late 94 onwards are different.

Does anyone know if this is true? If not what do you all know.

Cheers

I would say to early 97 would be the same

89 to early 97 are the same shape luxes (to the last of the solid axle)

I had a 2004 model tub on my 89 and you need to taper the front becasue they are wider. You also dont bolt up the middle mounts, and the front ones have to be redrilled

cheers... will look around for a89 to 94 tub then. Found heaps of single and extra cab tubs on another car forum. Not many dual cab ones but. Also does 2wd tubs fit same as 4wd tubs. Bit of a wild question but just wanted to ask...

I think the guards are different, more room in a 4wd one, but don't quote me on that
