Thinking of buying some New TSL swampers for my patrol 36 x12.5 x15
currently run 35 Creepy's . I do mainly offroad , rock and hard off road use , but do road rap them on occasion on the highway to get to places .
Just after others thoughts mainly if you have actually owned a set . I don't trust what your brothers , girlfriend's , sister's , mum has to say about them .

I put 35000km on a set of Q78's on my Gwagen. (2500kg)
They still have plenty of tread, and I now run them on my suzuki.
They're never going to last 100,000km, but I think that considering the offroad performance, they are perfectly acceptable on the road.
They aren't speed rated under ADR rules, so they aren't legal on any car manufactured after 1973. They are DOT approved for road use in the US, and are speed rated under their system. They are fine at speed, although they are happier at a smidge under 100km/h than a smidge over.

got them for weekend tires on the GU. they get the wobble at about 70k but at highway speed they are fine and actually seem to get better the faster i go ( up to 170 or so )

what about wear? mine wear HEAPS when i leave them on after a weekends wheeling..
i do run 38PSI so thats probably a bit much, so next time il try 32 or something

I'm only reiterating this because Q78's are a VERY good size, but the archaic sizing method using a letter for width and a number for sidewall ratio confuses lots of people.
Suzuki sierras used to have H78 tyres on them standard in the 1980's

I would rather have a fresh square edge in the sloppy stuff, especially if you had to climb out of the crap, blasting through a bog hole would make little difference but the climb out at the end would be different, it is very hard to make direct comparisons between tyres and vehicles as there are so many variables, it is more a "seat of the pants"/personal experience thing, maybe its just a Victorian thing.

I notice. Direct, side by side comparisons with the same size tyres, one set sharp, one set rounded, on the same day on the same track on the same type of car makes the difference very clear. G'day mate I actually own a set of 36x12.5x15s and love em ( owned before: 2x 33x12.5 tsls, 34 jt2s, 33 mtrs 33 mongrels, 33 bfgs) I have found them to work extremely well compared to the creepies and others of their calibre. On road, well apart from initial flat spot typical of bias tyres they run quite well. Except needing nearly 1/2 kilo of wieght for balancing, but even after loosing some wieghts they still handle surprisingly well
I love rock and hate mud so they suit me well and work great on a 15x8 rim at around 12-15psi without beadlocks. you will find they arent as strong in the sidewalls as creepies but thats more a wear in thing. If i was able to buy again i'd possible go 37 sticky treps or creepies but haven't had any complaints with any of my swampers so far!
