Hey Jake,
I think there was a red 75 series troopy that had a nissan scoop on it in 4wdmonthly a while ago.
It didn't fit real good and I think he had plans on changing it.
It didn't look too bad but definitely didn't fit real nice and neat.
I know a guy with ford style scoops on a hilux and they are shit hot and work real well.
My new patrol has scoops on the bonnet also and they look good seem to let a lot of heat out.
Do you want the scoop to let hot air out or let cool air in (for an intercooler or something?????) This makes a big difference as to what style you want ie vents or actual air scoop.
Cheers
Brian

yeah brian i saw that rig but he mounted it in the middle of his bonnet...iam planning on mountin it on the drivers side (on the flat) so it doesnt have to follow the recess in the middle of the bonnet

Hey Jake,
I would really think about using vents rather than a scoop mate.
Ya just don't know what it will do to the air in ya engine bay. Even though they are a nice hole that look like it would let heaps of air in it may not be as effective as you think. It can fuck with the air pressure under the hood big time.
Vents will let out so much heat you wont believe it even when you are crawling the engine fan can still blow out heaps of heat through them.
As I said I knew a hilux with big boost diesel that had a thermo and was having overheating probs when in heavy use. He fitted 2 falcon style vents just behind the radiator and you wouldn't believe the heat that comes out straight off the radiator!!! This has solved the prob.
Scoop looks good sometimes but so do vents. IMO the vents will do a better job in this case.

Yep or do it Maggot4x4's way! (mounted backwards)
In terms of scoops etc one of the best scoops for street cars in relation to airflow and effectiveness etc was the A9x style torana scoop.
IE opening at the rear.
In your case though cause you only want cool air to cool components and keep heat down and not trying to get cool induction air the vents or scoop reversed to act as a vent is the best bet without doubt.

I had one of these on my 4runner years ago. I got a yellow sticker and when I went over the pits I had to cover it up. The cops said it was a hazard becuse if a radiator hose broke it would put water on the windscreen. But it was ok for torana's to mave them becasue they were stock
