hi all was after some concise info ive huntede about a bit and come up short... i want a zook and am in process of purchasin one but i wanna know how they go as a daily driver... primarily my work car but i hunt quite often and a three hour blast up a highway is not uncommon for me i wanna know will the 1.3 handle it.... the one im lookin at got a few kays on it but i can swap a motor out pretty quick but its gotta last the trip home and hopefully six months or so... so my big question is will a 1.3 zook handel bein loaded to the boards with dogs esky swag and beer and sittin on 100 the whole way for like 3 hours.... any help would be greatly received

I used mine to flog about between mine sites around Isa, driven Brisbane to Isa, Isa to Cairns, Isa Townsville etc... it's not the most comfortable, but the engine didn't care, although 90 is a more reasonable target.
Still does Brisbane to Janowen, LCMP, Imbil, Kyogle.
As noted, improved seating will help.

I used my 1.3L WT hardtop for work for 2 years ... did around 500-600k's per week in it when I was just around the metro area, but also some longer trips of up to 800km in a day. Then I packed the wife and dogs in, hooked a trailer on the back and drove from Adelaide to Perth in it
Honestly I find mine pretty comfy. I was no more uncomfortable when I arrived in Perth than if I'd done the trip in a Commo (done numerous times). The upright seating position can be quite comfy.
Adelaide to Perth I sat on 110kph in fifth (with trailer) when winds were light but was forced back to 90kph against head winds. Could still (just) hit 105/110kph against the head winds but that was in fourth doing about 4100rpm ... not nice revs for cruising. Averaged about 11.5L/100km I think although I wasn't really keeping tabs on it. That was a fresh 1.3L, 1.75" exhaust with extractors, 235/75R15s and stock gearing.
My tips for comfort are:
- hardtop with aircon
- modify the driver's seat to sit one click more upright (foremost factory position is too laid back and will give you back pain)
- springs/shocks in good nick
- upgrade the lights and wiring loom to H4s for night driving comfort
- don't expect to be able to always hold 100/110kph. Against a head wind or up hills you will likely be back to 90kph unless you drop back to fourth and rev it out.

Moph i just did that trip in a loaded hard top - mind you I went as far as Tasmania. I sat on 90, more for milage which was around the 9 litre mark. But I don't think it had much more, when the wind picked up i struggled. My last zook on the other hand had a good motor and exhaust (130k on the clock), it sat on the 110 mark easy enough.
In answer to the original question, it's a give and take type of situation. I think the zook is comfy enough, it's not like riding a zoo model, but then, what is? I digress. The point is, yes you can drive it for 300km every day if thats what your willing to do in order to be a lucky owner of a zook. The motor is pretty tough, but hell could never tell you if it would last another two weeks. Get it comp tested before you buy and take some precaution. Like you said, it's pretty easy to rip a motor out if you have to.
Then mod the hell out of it. Bigger tires and longer springs improve comfort ten fold, though kills milage/motor/money etc. Kind of like cocain and the human body - alot of fun in the mean time.

Perth to Adelaide is generally a bit easier on fuel than Adelaide to Perth due to tail winds across the Nullabor. Mine isn't real good on economy at the best of times tho - I've never seen better than 10L/100km out of it when taking it easy, and never get worse than 11.5L/100km when thrashing it. So I tend to keep my foot down
I do run premium in mine though because it lets me advance the timing a couple of degrees, and that's enough extra oomph to let me hold 110 in fifth on the open road rather than having to grab for fourth every time I hit a slight rise.

mines running 235's and stock suspension and a 1600 efi vit engine. and i have drivin it from maryborough to bundy. maryborough to noosa. i no not long trips but i get out the other end just fine. and i found the bigger tyres made it comfier and the bigger engine made it sittin at 110 no problem at all even with hills and stuff. on stock gearing
