Toyota RAV4 FULL makeover

No offense but if i wanted a landcruiser, I would buy one!
My partner has a Landcruiser and i dont like them!
I think they are big and bouncy.
So that is why i want to do the RAV the way i want, Its small
and compact and if it can be done legally it will go more
places then the landcruiser! hahaha.
The more people tell me it cant be done and why bother
the more i want to get it done and show everyone it is done.

I think a whole bundy chasis is the go that way you get 4 coils something closer to the right length and width short nose and wheelbase
also has hilux runng gear ( more suited weight wise)
read diffs and gearbox
you can even bolt a 3s engine either a na( gen 3or beams )or turbo( 3sgte) into the gearbox with the right factory bellhousing they produce more power and torque than sr20 and it is toyota
the only thing against is the year model its easier if they are similar age
i have an 80 series that has a hilux cab fitted with a supra engine so i have been throgh all of this stuff
the trick would be to register it as a bundy then do a cab substitution fitting the rav body and a 3s engine that way no problem with chassis identity
it will be a great thing but it is going to cost a lot if you have to pay some one to do it

I agree, but the trouble is actually finding a coil bundy chassis in good nick, which is why I suggested the SWB GQ chassis, probably a few around, parts are easy to get, chassis would be wide providing plenty of room for mods to be done.
I reckon this would have to be one of the coolest ideas for a build Ive heard for a while, but it will cost bit to do properly.
You dont want to halfass this build up thats for sure.

I seen this about 12 months ago when i was thinking about doing it.
He done a good job on it. but i still want my kids to be able
to sit in the back. So i dont really want all the bar work inside.
Thats at the moment anyway lol hahaha.
I still want it to be light like it is. I understand that once i put
a chassis under it an bigger diff its going to be heavy, but
i would like to still try an keep it as light as possible.

i spotted one last month for 2000 bucks looked pretty good
a few months ago there was a good rolling shell at the wreckers at archerfield

not meaning to offend but.........
if a 1935 chev pickup body can be put on a 60 series chassis with a 350 under the bonnet using a hilux tray can be engineered and regod in QLD i dont see a problem with the RAV4 having a Chassis put under it with much improved running gear (or doing a rebody on a "bundera" with a RAV4 body)

you can do most things in queensland legally, you just need to know how to do it and how to word the mods to Queensland Transport
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown

We have been talking to Queensland transport about it,
they said yes it can be done, they gave us numbers to there
approved engineers.
We gave them a buzz an explained what was happening and they
said they couldn't see a problem in it getting done either.
So now my partner is in the process of planning it all up to
put forward to the engineer to get passed then off the qld transport
for them to approve then off we go..
So far it looks like the GQ is more of a closer fit for chassis wise
rather then the Bundera.. But dont quote me on it as i have to
measure a bundera also.

The reason why Id use a SWB gq chassis, is because of the ease of finding spares for it. Bundys are not as common as gqs any more.
But my hat goes off to you for taking it this far, and possibly further.
Rememeber, if you start the build, do a build up thread, with heaps of pics.
