mega light steering on soa siera
mega light steering on soa siera
just fitted WT diffs to my NT lwb siera, with high steer set up.
took if for a little drive this arvo and the steering is finger light,(this is running 33's). tyres were at about 30psi.
is this normal when a spring over is done?

interesting you mention this though - i've driven a vitara on 32's with no lift and no power steering and it was featherweight steering - tyres running at 30psi (too high)... my sierra, SPOA on 31" cooper stts had 'normal' steering (ie: heavyish) then changed to 31" simex ETs and steering got lighter - im assuming its because of 2 things - the deeper tread flexing, and the more rounded pattern of the tyre, so less of it touching the ground.
So, i'd start by dumping those tyre pressures - 20psi is probably overkill (i run 20 for sidewall stability, theyre comfier at 18 or even 15).

I found when i put larger tyres and extended shackles on my sierra that my steering got really light. I also noticed it had a severe tendency to under steer and get the occasional speed wobbles around 80km or when decelerating through about 80km. I put 3 degree wedges between my diffs and springs and its the goods now. I dont know how close to factory spec it is, but nothing else about my car is standard anyways
well drove it home from the factory last night and didnt get nasty steering woble but it does need a wheel alignment, as its so far out the camber is adjusting its self as i drive, (wheels lean in wheels lean out) feels like a buckled wheel.
will report back after wheel alignment
