Isn`t tuff truck meant to find the best Driver, Spotter and rig combination?
Now what makes up these things?
the way the rig itself preforms
the way the driver can drive it
the way the spotter can help the driver get the best out of his rig.
and TEAM WORK!!!!!!!!!!! between driver and spotter. Here is where I think winching comes into its own. You can have the best driver, the best spotter and the best rig, but it`ll all mean shit if you can`t do EVERYTHING TOGETHER as a team. this includes using your head. Winching effectivly is very much a team work thing. If you have been in a winch challenge or a event that has winching in it you will know what I mean.
I think winching should be in it but with a bigger penalty, say 50 points instead of 20. But I do LOVE to see a rig drive something rather than winch it.
Not having winching in it would be just as dangerous as having it. Imagine somebody being fully on the gas trying to get up rocky horror and they get a bad bounce or just simply loose it on the last step, they`d be rolling lots of times before they stopped at the bottom, they could take out either them selves, officals or spectators not to meantion completly destroy there rig.
I`m not saying winch has to be in it, I`m more saying that you can not use safety as a reason for not having it.
Nissan trials doesn`t have winching in it and it flows fairly well, I just don`t like there 1 go then you are out rule. Would work better for drivers and spectators if they allowed a second go at it.
For getting into tuff truck, I think that 6 comps should be choosen as a tuff truck qualifying round and the top 5 get the chance to compete in tuff truck if they so wish. Nissan trials shouldn`t be one of these because it has 4 different classes plus overall which is normally won by somebody in modified class. Which top 5 would you choose as the tuff truck entrants, you can`t just say outlaw as there are a lot of rigs that compete in open and modified that can beat rigs in outlaw. Or if nissan trials is one of these you take the bare scores from outlaw, open and modified and use the top 5 highest scorers.
I said this after the 1st tuff truck and I`ll say it again now. I personaly think that the top 3 or 5 from the last tuff truck shouldn`t be allowed to enter the next one. Why do I think this? Because I don`t even want the chance of the same people winning or placing in it year in year out.
Then there is the unknown rig/person.
Sam k was a unknown before the 1st tuff truck and did very well.
I to was an unknown, the 1st tuff truck was my FIRST EVER comp. I was on 33`s had medium to low flex and still came 4th. Sorry sam but I beat you
Now as for show n shine, ramp, a + d events. THEY SUX!!!!!!!!!!! who farken cares about this shit?
The engineering event I think is good and should stay because wheather you like it or not how good a rig is built goes a long way towards a tuff truck.
Another thing is the rule with NO OUTSIDE help allowed, this is a good rule if it is applied to EVERY!!!!!!!!! compeditor. Last year I wasn`t even allowed to camp outside the compeditors area with my mates because they (tuff truck organisers) wanted to be able to make shore nobody else was working on my rig (fair enough I understand that), but somebody (don`t need to say who) was allowed to take his rig home to fix it.
THIS IS THE BIGGEST THING THAT HAS TURNED ME OFF TUFF TRUCK. ITS A FARKEN JOKE HOW THERE IS 1 SET OF RULES FOR MOST AND THEN ANOTHER SET FOR A SELECT FEW. (yes that is meant to be in caps) If you have ever spoken to me about how I feal on this matter then you will know how pissed I STILL am with this farken shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
